Both are marked on the bottom in black with"Made In Japan" and I would guess they date to the 1940's/1950's. Each measures approximately 5 5/8" long x 2 3/4" wide at the base and 4 1/2" tall. Both also have chipped off tips on their left ears(see pictures 4& 8) and both have overall crazing from age(one with slightly more visible crazing- see picture 9) they are otherwise in very good condition with no other chips and no cracks or repairs. Up for auction is this pair of very unique mid century glazed ceramic wall vases. They are unmarked. But they look like California pottery. One has a base color of lime green. The other white, both with black Jackson Pollack color splatters on them. They feature a red fish blowing light lime bubles and a pink fish blowing off-white bubbles. The fish and bubbles have been applied to the bases, so they are not all one molded/ceramic piece. They measures 5-18" in diameter and 1-1/4" deep. They are in excellent condition. They have small handles on either side and are decorated with tiny hand-painted roses. Leaves and forget-me-nots on both sides. The COALPORT name appears on the base together with the words BONE CHINA/MADE IN ENGLAND/EST. 1750. One bears the hand-written artist’s number 973 and the other 525 T. One is in perfect condition but the other has a broken petal on one of the roses. It’s not immediately obvious and anyway this can be turned to the back. Fortunately this double-sided quality means that you can still have a pink and a yellow rose at the front. Or two yellow, but not two pink! PAIR MINIATURE VASES Ceramic ONION SHAPE FLAMBE GLAZE 3" This Vintage PAIR of ONION SHAPE MINIATURE VASES have Flared Rims and a Drip FLAMBE GLAZE that consists of(from top to bottom) BLUE* BURGUNDY/ OXBLOOD* YELLOW* BURGUNDY/ OXBLOOD. There is also some PURPLE. Where the Burgundy& Blue Glazes mixed, and a hint of GREEN. Where the Blue and Yellow Mixed. Each Vase weighs approximately 33g and measures: 3" High 1 1/8" Diameter Top 2" Diameter Bottom. These vases are unmarked. And the bottoms are glazed(except for the rim of the base) There are SOME CRAZING Lines in the Glaze, but Otherwise, they are in GOOD CONDITION with NO CHIPS. CRACKS, nor Repairs. These vases were part of my wife's estate. And she had collections of both American Art Pottery and Asian Art Pottery, so I am not sure to which these belonged.
