Rare Pair Federal Brass Andirons Figural Flame and Pine Cone Finials Paw Foot NR
We are very pleased to be able to offer for auction this Rare Beautiful Pair of Federal Period Brass Andirons with No Reserve. These are a work of art as well as fireplace andirons. They are circa 1820 to 1830 and have much artistic detail. Each andiron is topped with a flame finial in brass. The base of each andiron has much detail including figural bust. Floral, scroll, classical architectural swag. The rear legs are cast iron. Each with a Pine Cone Finial. The andirons have a Paw Foot. Each andiron measures 19" tall x 9 1/2" wide x 19" deep. One cast iron leg where attached to the brass column base has had some work at some point in time possibly creating a minor crack in the seam and the rear adjusting bolt on each leg has been replaced with older bolts. Just acquired out of the Historic Old West End in Toledo. Ohio, we are able to offer this original, early 1900's Claw Foot Tub faucet with a sunflower porcelain shower head. The faucet is extremely high quality, quite heavy, and signed ~ ROYAL BRASS WORKS CLEVELAND OHIO- PATENTED. This unusual claw foot bathtub faucet is fairly large as well, it measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide" at the back area with the plumbing" 7 inches across, center hole, to center hole and weighs over 5 pounds. The handle measures 5 1/4 inches long by about 1 1/2 inches across at the largest end. The over all condition is pretty decent with some expected wear from age and use. The porcelain handle does have some cracks, but appears to be very stable and solid. I believe just some white paint would be fine. The sunflower shower head looks like it ... moremay be newer than the faucet and possibly. It measures 6 5/8 inches acoss and weighs just over two pounds, with a swivel head. It is a very fine quality shower head, that appears ready to hook up and use. As my father would say“don’t be penny wise and pound foolish. ANTIQUE NOS HEAVY SOLID CAST BRASS FOOT BOLT DOOR LATCH#0 Hi folks. This is just for the bolt. The floor keeper can be bought at any home center. This is used on the secondary door of double doors to hold it secure. It can also be used on any door as a horizontal latch/bolt if enough wood is exposed on your frame(about 1” when your door is in the closed position. It is heavy cast brass and not cast iron and nothing like the flimsy made imports of today using some sort of pot metal. This has never been used but it does have light numerous scratches and digs. Because it is solid cast brass it would polish up like/near new if that ... morewas the finish you were looking for. This one I started to polish using a buffer on a drill and it took about five minutes to do using a brass paste polish. Almost all scratches and marks were polished off doing it that way. I did not polish all areas on it but you get the idea. I did it as an example. This is not spring loaded, because it’s made of cast brass it’s great to use on sheds and bulkhead wooden doors. The bolt base measures 6 ¼” x 1 ¾” Circ. middle of last century. Oil has been applied but they should have a final cleaning and clear coated or painted for continued protection. Please take a look at the many other antique hardware items I have listed. My pictures are large because I not only want to tell you what you’re getting but also for you to see what you’re getting. Wonderful Vintage Brass Hot Water Bottle/Foot Warmer, Estate Find
I found this great piece at an estate sale recently and no one there could tell me what it was. It took a little searching but I finally found that it's an old hot water bottle or possibly used to warm a bed-could even be used as a foot warmer. The other examples I found that are very similar in shape and size(most from the early 1900s) lacked the nice decorative design of this one. The person that owned this one spent a good bit of his life traveling and lived in Belgium at one time so it's possible that this was picked up in another country. On the brass bottom is an oval with a rectangle and a reclining lion across the top. Inside the rectanble is a cross with an M and J on either side. Under the rectangle is the word"depose" and the number"63" The only other marking is"Eureka" on the brass ring. The ... morelittle screw on cap is in good condition but the gasket inside is pretty hard-don't know if it's rubber or some other material. I haven't tested it to see if it's watertight. The top and bottom are brass. I believe, but I'm not sure what the body is made of. I'm sure it's a heat conductive metal so if you think you might want to use it, please wrap in a towel or get someone to crochet a little cozy for it. But identified as being manufactured by Terry Clock Company of Waterbury, Ct. through online articles identifying the patented foot design. This reel is constructed of brass. It has a full time clicker. It is in good working condition. The foot and clamp are riveted together, and the foot is riveted on the back plate and screwed on the front plate using a supporting block. It appears the foot would offer more support than just a clamp. It is in very good condition, appears lightly used, almost new in appearance, see photos) The reel is very well constructed with the pillars, end plates, handle and foot all being quite substantial for the size reel. Ames started making swords In 1832 for the United states Army This Modle was made off the roman short sword his first order was filled in 1832 for the United States Army was for 2000 of them this first group had a defective hilt to were the blades came loose after only a few hits to a wood block despite this problem the United States army requested 2.200 more to be made but Samules foundry was not big enough to make the hilts at the time so he subcontracted the earlier desinged hilts for his second order of 2,200 to S.Hues who owned a foundry in NewburyPort Massachusetts and and had his foundry refitted so he was able to cancel the sub contract with Hues in the latter part of 1834 and so his swords dated 1835 and latter have the improved hilts, As you can see from the picutres the sword is a great peice of American History Many of these swords ... morewere put into Maritme service as well
