Antique Victorian Duplex Brass Double Student Oil Lamp Electric Original Globes
Hi. You are bidding on the most beautiful lamp. It is a Duplex student oil lamp that was converted to electric. You can see by the cord and plug that it is one of the oldest electric lamps you will ever see. It has been tested and did work when I bought it but the cord is super old. I would get a second opinion before you use the cord. The globes are LOVELY and even more beautiful in person. They are in good condition with no nicks or cracks. The globes measure approximately ten inches across at the bottom and 4.5 inches or so on the top. The entire lamp is 27 inches when measured from base to top of chimneys. I believe the chimneys are also original in that they look like old glass and they are the exact measurements of the original chimneys. One of the chimneys has some roughness around the base where it goes into the metal but it is not ... morechipped. If you collect these antique lamps. I think you are going to love this one. There are problems, but minimal. I see that there is one lamp socket that is sort of tipped to one side. There is some difficulty getting the round base for the chimney into the larger frame for the glass globe. But I think that all of these issues are probably just a part of owning a lamp like this. A beautiful brass/bronze table lamp in the French Regency style. Heavy and ornate. It sits on a salmon colored marble base with 4 dolphin feet. All metal parts are non-magnetic. The body of the lamp is an urn with an ornate floral design on both the front and the back. The urn has two Greek Key handles. Measuring 7-1/2” from handle to handle. Above the urn is a brass column holding a plastic candle sleeve and ending in Levinton double sockets with pull chains. The rectangular marble base has a center brass medallion decorated with scrolls and an Acanthus leaf. The numbers 3. 10, 5, 4, and 7 have been scratched into the underside ... moreof the marble. Vintage brass double student electric lamp fluted swirl shades
This is the very classic double student lamp- an electric reproduction of the original oil type- which I purchased from the original owner. The chimney and shade holders are brass plated steel. Everything else is solid brass and features 3 way sockets. The shades use a 7 inch fitter and are milk glass with fluted swirl design. I estimate this lamp to have been purchased in the late 40's early 50's. One chimney is shorter than the other. Comes without bulbs as I will leave those to your discretion. CONDITION: Functionally excellent and cosmetically shows considerable age patina to the laquered brass finish- this could be an asset. Depending on your taste. Antique Brass Two Candle French Bouillotte Lamp Rare Design. Candle height on this lamp is adjustable. an uncommon feature. I have found no other lamps of this type with adjustable candle height. Height of lamp is 21" x 10" wide. Circumference of base is 7 1/4" Candles can be raised 13" without the shade in place. And about 9 1/2" with a shade. There is no shade included with this sale. This lamp is offered as found with original patina. The wiring and guts are NOT original. It is possible to use this lamp with candles by removing the wiring. I have made no attempt to repair it. And I have tried to show all defects in the photos. SEE PHOTOS In spite of the defects. This lamp is quite repairable, and would be a VERY upscale lamp when finished. The dish base is not straight. And there is a hairline crack in the base ... moreof the dish. Base is still tight and solid. Brass nut under base appears to be hand made. Base of one candle is not tight. No maker tag on this. I'm not sure if the white shades are original. They fit the holders fine. The holders could use some soldering. There are some smal chips on the shades. The chimneys are newer. An antique brass wall hanging candle sconce with a central circular mirror. As you can see from the photos the brass is decorated with scrolls. Leaves and berries. There are 2 sconces for holding the candles. The mirror is held in place from the back by a cast iron bracket. There is a hook on the back so that it can be hung from the wall. I would imagine this sconce dates to circa 1900. Condition. Very good. Just the odd minor bend to the edge but nothing that can really be seen from the front. There are some light scratches to the mirror. I have had this wall sconce professionally polished and lacquered so it will stay shiny for years. The sconces detach for easy transportation. Lows& Ball Offered is this handsome antique double Argand brass oil lamp with an urn form fluid reservoir topped with a bud finial. It features a fluted tapered body which supports curved arms and burners on a square base. It features the original wheel cut clear glass shades which are etched in a pattern of medallions and intricate designs. The lamp measures 18 inches tall by 15 inches wide and 5 inches square at the base. This lamp was originally used with whale oil or vegetable oil. But has been electrified and is in good working order. Some of the fiber covering the wire is frayed. One of the three screws on one glass shade is missing. The shade is still secure with two. This beautifully ornate antique double student oil lamp has two dual wick burners with glass chimneys. The width is approximately 19" with a height of 27" This lamp is quite heavy. Though the origin of this lamp is unknown. The knobs on the burners are stamped"Duplex- Made in England" Condition: Please note that, with most antiques, there is the expected wear to the lamp so please look closely at all pictures, as they are considered as part of my description, and feel free to ask questions. There is a small separation in the smaller decorative brass area noted in the last picture. The Cranberry Opalescent shades are quite stunning and are such a deep rich cranberry color. Again, these are very deep cranberry, not the light colored ones you see so much! I can find no chips or cracks in the shades, just very minor wear to ... morethe bottoms where they sit on the lamp. The chimneys are also in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks found. I don't believe the chimneys are original but they work well and look so beautiful with the lamp. Fabulous antique victorian brass double cherub table lamp early 1900s* This is a an awesome antique victorian double cherub table lamp which stands 18 inches high and 8 inches wide at the base. The lamp has been rewired and has a brass pull chain socket with a fancy amber and ruby glass bead pull on the end of the chain. The fancy pierced brass shade ring is adorned with 34 strands of fire polished bohemian crystal lustres. I put new brass bow tie connector pins on the crystals to replace the old wires. I used a short round standard watt light bulb in this lamp which doesn't extend down beyond where the crystals end. These decorator bulbs can be found in any home center or home depot. This lamp was purchased from an antique shop in historic Guttenberg. The stem of the lamp is solid brass and has a beautiful Art Deco design with onyx glass in the middle. Brass colored cast iron base marked 7107 on the bottom. Lamp measures 24" tall x 6" across the base. Lamp is in good working condition. I had this lamp professionally restored and rewired with period style cloth wire and a button plug.
