This is a good project for the lamp restorer. It will be a magnificent lamp with some attention. There are no missing filagree pieces on the shade. The base is all bronze with a rich green toned patina, all pull switch and socket appear to be original. The shade is a white metal. All glass is original and matching as I believe is the finneal. Antique Slag Glass Lamp Base . signed Rainaud Panel Lamp Base with Final
Here's a Rainaud lamp base for a slag glass shade. This base is straight and true and is not cracked or dented. It is 20 1/2' tall to the top of the cluster and has a 6 3/8" diameter foot. It weighs just under 4 1/2 pounds As you can see there is some chipping to the paint on the stem and on the finial. This would be easy to touch up if desired. The two sockets have been replaced with new Leviton sockets. They have been wired with modern cord and plug. Pic no. 5 shows the signature on the bottom. Antique French spelter metal lamp base with cherubs. This piece is 10 1/2 inches in height. 2 3/4 inches across the bottom and weighs 2 pounds 8.1 ounces. It is signed FRANCE near the base. It is in fair to good condition, with wear showing on most of the raised areas and it looks like there may have been another vine. There are two ground spots where it probably would have been attached that were painted over with the same finish that is on the rest of the piece. Small possible hairlines seen on one side of glass- not on the backside. Unnoticeable unless carefully looking as they merge into a textured glass. Some paint loss on interior. THE FINEST & BIGGEST C1905 HANDEL POINSETTIA LAMP ~ BASE & SHADE ARE BOTH SIGNED
For your consideration I have this absolutely mint and authentic c. 1905 Handel Poinsettia& Honeycomb leaded glass lamp on a bronze base for the serious collectors. This lamp is absolutely massive. Measuring almost 30 inches tall, with a base that's 9 inches across the widest part. The sockets, finial, shade rest, and acorn pulls are all original and have acquired a fine bronzed patina. The shade is an impressive 21 inches in diameter and 11 inches tall. Out of the hundreds of small pieces of glass that comprise the shade. Only a very few have age related stress fractures(I see only one on the honeycomb section) The leading has a nicely aged patina and the shade is incredibly tight and rigid. A lot of old shades lose their structural integrity over the years and will flex and bend to varying degrees when picked up. This shade does ... morenot bend even a little and is a testament to the Handel quality workmanship as well as the wonderful care that the prior owners took with this item. The original copper hook for hanging the sales tag is still on the underside of the shade.something you don't see often(check the 7th photo) The wiring has been replaced with period cloth-covered wire and plug-in. It is ready to go. The signature on the base is a little hard to read. And the picture doesn't show it very well, but it's there, and you'll be able to make it out in person. The condition of this lamp can easily be labelled'Excellent Plus Plus' And is the finest conditioned lamp of its kind that I've come across. Antique Signed Bradley & Hubbard Lamp Base For Slag Glass Art Nouveau Early 1900
Looks like the base plate and sockets are copper and the stem is brass or bronze. The only places my magnet sticks are on the cast iron weight in the bottom and the bolt at the top. One socket looks to be original(Bryant. Patented 1907) and the other looks like it must have been replaced decades ago(Eagle) both are solid copper. The Bryant pull chain doesn't move and will need the socket dismantled& repaired. The Eagle works just fine. At some point someone replaced the cord and plug, but the internal wiring is still the original cloth covered. Very good structural condition. Should clean up nicely. 18" tall x 7" diameter at base. The story goes that sculptor Max Le Verrier wandered into the Jardin des Plantes in Paris and found himself in front of the cages. One of which held Boubou the chimpanzee. A friendship ensued during which Le Verrier immortalized his friend. The finished product was a lamp subsequently named"Pluie" rain) Its shade was made of frosted French glass in the shape of an umbrella. Boubou the chimp is solid bronze and sits on a marble base which is inscribed with the signature of Le Verrier. The lamp measures approximately 18" high x 11 1/4" in diameter. The shade holder is marked Pat March 12 08 and ARROW. I have not seen this type of holder and believe it is for a rare type of shade. If you had another shade you could remove the holder easily. It has been rewired at some point but the plug is cut off. The socket looks good and high quality. It stands 13 1/4 inches tall to the socket and the base is 6 inches square. This shade is called the Florence shade because of the bump out at the top. The exterior of the shade is accented with gilded outlines. Shade is signed on the interior near the lip"The Pairpoint Corp'n" as well as a patent date of July 9, 1921. Base has minor wear and discoloration to finish as well, the base is also marked.
