He was the son of Jean-Baptiste Moreau, a sculptor, who also worked as a painter and draughtsman. The artist was already taught by his father and was introduced by him in the craftwork of sculpture. Description: French Figural cast metal Auguste Moreau lamp with the Paris foundry mark. Foundry mark reads'Fabrication Francaise Paris made in France' The lamp is in very good condition and works. Includes the harp and finial as shown in the pictures. Art Nouveau style from turn of the century France. Colors are an antiqued gold with a light grey patina wash. And a white paint color. The ladies face has painted color details. The paint on the figure is original with a few touch up areas. The original base has been carefully repainted to match. This lamp has been tested and works. BEAUTIFUL LAMP There are minimal signs of wear to the statue itself. But the rod for the lamp has become detached from the sculpture. There is also No Lamp Shade. I have cleaned up with water but did not want to attempt to clean to to be in experienced in cleaning this type of material. This item will be professionally packaged. The Lamp is Still exquisite(IMO) The ROD that runs up the statue did detached from statue you can see this at the base and I have previously re glued the rod at the woman's head when I was using.
