An antique. Circa 1840's, signed: Cornelius& Co. ormolu brass solar(astral) lamp base. It has been converted to electric with rod through for wiring. Missing the burner, shade ring, and glass shade. In working order with newer cord and plug. As presented it total measures 22" tall, to top of font 14-5/8" tall. Very good condition: Cornelius brass without dents or breaks, original ormolu finish some wear. As presented: missing a finial, has a shade holder for glass shade with 4" top opening diameter.

If you have been watching this lamp is better than the last two I have sold. This is the last complete one I have. The upper section was polished at some point.some solder was taken off the airdraft edge and does not interfere with the threads. screws in perfectly) One hole filled in by the airdraft.One hole behind the head and one hole in the base.look at photos) The center iron rod is intact. The weighted base is signed(C. CO. 61) w/ two holes. All holes can be repaired. Drop in is period but chimney holder and screws look like an old replacement. 6" holder is old. Not perfect but not bad at all. Font is the earlier 1843 patent. Has a 5 1/4" square bronze base and is 19 1/4" tall. Please ask any questions before bidding.

Here we have a cast metal hanging frame I believe to be for a Solar lamp. The bracket has its original chains which lead to a cast metal rose at the top. Which will likely double as a smoke bell, I believe this to be from around c1850-c1870. Dimensions; the arms extend around 12" in diameter. The fitting-ring for the lamp fount to drop through is 4 1/2" across the opening, which curves upwards to 5 1/8" to support the curved underside of the Solar fount, the frame has a 24" drop Condition; other than losses to the gold-coloured ... morefinish. ASTRAL/SOLAR LAMP ORNATE FACES COLUMN MARBLE BASE NON ELECTRIFIED
For your viewing from our Astral lamp collection is this wonderful unusual Astral lamp that has a double step marble base and a round etched glass shade. The shade has minor roughness at the top edge with 1 small edge flea bite chip. We have been collecting Astra/Solar lamps for over 40 years and have been thinning our collection of over 13 of them and this one has the most unusual and ornate columns of any lamp we have ever owned. The top of the column has a large face on each side and appears to be some type of mythical character. It then narrows and widens again a this wider point are 2 smaller faces on each side and there is a pleated style head band just below the face similar to those that the early Romans wore in the 15th or 16th century. Then as it spreads out in a square bottom there are 4 more faces at each point with the same pleated ... morestyle collar only under the neck they way early royalty wore in the 15th and 16th century. The rest of the column is filled in with berries and leaves it is amazing how intricate this was made over 130 years ago. The marble base is in excellent condition no chipping or cracks. It has never been electrified but does not retain the original burner it has been replaced with a later oil burner. The height with the shade is 22" the base alone is 13" it has 12 colonial style prisms that are 6" long including the bobeche top and has a 5 1/2" fitter. The upper marble base is 6" lower base is 4" Sometime in its past it appears a very not in the know person put a candle in the oil reservoir and let it melt on the the body and it appears to be burnt wax I did not try to remove it I think with heat in that area it should be easily removed when the shade is on it is not at all noticeable and does not distract from it beauty. Antique Astral Oil Lamp Brass&Marbke W/Antique Frosted Etched Glass Globe Elec.
Antique Astral oil lamp that was converted to electric. The decorative base is brass with parts of the gilding still there. It stands on a marble base 5 3/4" square. The frosted glass globe has engraved arches and flowers. It stands 24" tall. There are no chips or cracks to the shade. And the brass has no cracks. Please disregard my answer to the question asking if there were any prisms. Thanks to an Ebayer for noting that there originally were 12 prisms. The ring has twelve tiny holes to hold prisims. There are no prisims. I have not tried to clean it because of the original gilding. It has a glass chimney as well. Shipping in two boxes, insured to the 48 states is $30.00. Thanks for viewing.

For sale is an original 1850's Astral or Solar lamp shade. It is frosted and finely engraved. If you have a lamp that needs a period shade this is it. The shade is 7 3/4 inches tall. The bottom opening is 4 inches and the top opening is 6 inches. The bulbous center is 8 inches across. There are no chips. Cracks or discoloration.

Dietz& Co. of New York NY(attributed) Brass. Bronze and glass Solar/Astral Lamp ca.1860 with a 6" Frosted Wheel Cut Shade with a Rolled Top. The lamp has been electrified at some point in the past. Prism ring with 13 snowflake 4" prisms plus 1" top jewel. There is a top rim chip(as photographed) on the rolled edge of the shade. There is also a dent in the top of the font as shown which is covered by the shade. 20 1/2"High to top of shade. The last photo is from an 1860 Dietz& Co. Guaranteed antique circa 1900 astral or sinumbra electric lamp. Features original antique frosted glass shade(NOT a reproduction shade) with grape cluster and flower& vine decoration. Cut glass prisms, and a classical base with reeded brass column supporting the 3-arm shade ring. Its marble and brass base adds weight and stablity.
