The opening at the top of the lamp measures 1 1/4 inches outside diameter. The condition appears to be very nice with no chips or cracks. The only area of notice is the base.where the cobalt and crystal meet.there is cloudiness on the interior.may be a result of the application of the base to the top. Antique Brass Whale Oil Tall Lamp - Original Patina - Circa 1850's
Here is a wonderful circa 1850's tall brass 3-burner whale oil lamp with its original dark patina. It measures 25 1/2" tall x 6 1/4" wide at base. It is in all original condition with a crack in the brass to the lid of the burner(see pictures) It has one loose candle snuffer that was found inside. This one has a very nice scalloped chippendale style base which is more unusual. The stem is a bit bent. But this could be fixed. Pictures should tell the story. Antique Converted Brass Whale Oil Lamp From what information I could gather this WAS a real whale oil lamp at one time that has been converted into an electrical lamp. If I am NOT correct then it is an OLD replica of a whale oil lamp. Either way. Ti is very old. There is another listed on EBay for $99 with a damaged shade. My shade is in very good condition(with normal wear and tear you would expect from an item of it's age. I think it's a lovely piece. Sorry but I didn't notice that the shade was crooked until after I had already put the lamp and the camera up! A rare size diminutive all original blown glass lamp with single tall brass burner. Threaded base, pewter cap and what appears to be the original woven wick! The chain that attaches to the cap is missing and the cap has a small crack at the bottom side. Otherwise the lamp is in fantastic condition! These small single burner whale oil lamps were called sparking lamps because they were used when a gentleman suitor visited a favorite female. The parents would light the small lamp and when it went out. So did the gentleman visitor! No overnight ... moreor extended stays back then. The lamp is in excellent aged condition with a missing chain and cracked cap the only distractions. The body of the lamp is made of thick and heavy blown glass with a thick solid glass flared base. On the base are what look like two very old museum tags or labels. Dimensions: 3 3/4" tall to top of burner. Burner is 1 5/16" long. Her lamp remains ready to be used. It has bubbles and seams in the glass indicating that it was blown into a mold. Above the glass foot are many stars and ovals impressed into the glass in a wonderful design to the round body of the piece. This beautiful lamp measures almost 5 inches in diameter and stands 13 ½ inches tall. On the bottom is a worn label that appears to read: Hepimge Hand Made By Smith and on the knob is printed: P& A DORSET DIV. THOMASTON, CONN MADE IN USA. This auction is for a rare and unusual pair of antique 19th century whale oil lamps. These lamps are made of brass and feature three burners and a complete set of four tools. The small tools(a tweezer. Scythe, snuffer and bucket) are attached by chains to each lamp. The base is scalloped and sits on three feet. They measure approximately 16" tall to the top of the handles. There are no maker's marks. The brass oil lamps are in extremely good antique con dition. There are no cracks. Dents or breaks. The brass is tarnished on both lamps commensurate with age though one looks like it was used a little more than the other. I believe that can be disassembled for shipping. The are free blown American made with thick stems. Rough pontils and tons of natural base rim wear from use. They are similar but not exactly the same size since they were made by hand individually. Condition on both is perfect with no damage other than a couple of tiny little surface nicks on the extreme edge of the fonts. There's also a little minor exterior surface wear as you would expect from glass of this age. Measure about 6&1/8" tall, 3&5/8" across the base. Insurance is now included in the cost of Shipping. This a wonderful antique Sandwich Glass whale oil lamp. Glass has a beautiful puffy design and appears to be early- there are no markings to indicate the manufacturer. Lamp measures 8 1/4" tall. Base measures 6" across. Glass glows neon green under black light so probably does contain uranium(lovely) It is in very good condition with some flea bites around font edge where the ring sits(so they won't show when ring is replaced) and around edges of base(typical flea bites- nothing that is seen without looking closely) and one approx. 1/8 chip in base(again, not readily noticeable) I will be listing several more whale oil lamps so please keep checking my listings if you are interested, I will gladly combine shipping. The well for the oil is heavy glass, molded in three parts(the three vertical mold lines are very slightly visible) It has twelve semi-circular segments decorating the widest part of the glass. The glass has a brass collar or rim at the top. It is mounted to a brass pedestal with a stepped foot. Which itself is mounted to a square marble base. Please scroll down to see our photographs. The oil lamp is from the mid 1800s. There have been some repairs to this piece. Namely where the glass joins the brass pedestal. The original plaster of Paris was loose at some time and was glued. This lamp is brass with engraved or embossed design of a peasant style house and hay trailer. It is late 1700's or early 1800's. It is 7.75 inches tall and 4 inches from the end of spout to the back of lamp. It includes 3 pieces but the wick pick is missing. There is a maker's mark on the bottom. It is a candlestick with the letters"G" on left. H" underneath, S" on right side of candlestick It is in great condition although there is some soldering lead around bottom of top piece that could be original or a repair. Very rare nautical piece.

This brass whale oil ship's lamp is very ornate with lion's head embellishments and swirling lines decorating it from top to bottom. It is 9.75 inches tall and 4.75 inches from spout tip to back of lamp. It is in excellent condition. It includes 3 pieces but does not have a wick pick. It is late 1700's to early 1800's. I can only guess that it was designed for royalty b/c of the design and the decorative qualities it displays. It has numbers on the bottom but I do not think they are original to this piece. Rare Antique Vintage Green Pressed Glass Whale Oil Lamp The bottom has the letters"H VE" Comes as shown in the photos. I do not know a lot about this lamp. It comes in 2 pieces and is connected at the center. There is a removable plastic piece that helps connect the top and bottom. I dont know if this is original to the lamp or it was something that was added at a later time. The inside is hollow from the top piece all the way to the bottom piece. Missing a top burner.if it ever had one. See photos of the top. Excellent condition- no chips or cracks. Great looking item. wish i knew more about it. 1800s Antique Whale Oil Lamp: Marble Base Patina Brass hardware floral designed blown glass/crystal Glass This has been Converted or for Electricity top screws onto original top of oil lamp as seen electric lamp which originally was a whale oil lamp The lamp has a good firm square base of marble and a brass pedestal supporting a very nicely shaped glass font. The fittings above the glass are also brass. The lamp works perfectly. easily could be converted back to being an oil lamp. Otherwise. There are no other problems with this lamp. It is in great condition. Height: 9" without lighting hardware 12 1/4" with Width of Base: 4 inches.

Antique Capen & Molineux NY c1848 4 Inch Whale Oil Lamp Lantern Pewter Signed #4
You are looking at a very rare Capen& Molineux oil lamp! This lamp came from an estate in Ithaca. New York! Measures about 4 inches tall. And about 2 5/8 inches across at the bottom. The lid unscrews and holds the wick. The interior looks to be fairly clean. I believe this was intended to be a whale oil lamp. I believe this is made of pewter. There is a small pin head sized hole at the top of the handle where the handle meets the lamp(can provide a picture. EBay only allows 12) I don't think it is a defect, simply a manufacturer design. It has a few minor dents here and there(see pictures) On the bottom. It is signed"Capen& Molineux N.Y. and underneath that, a number"4" The previous owners had put labeling tape on the bottom. Antique Whale Oil Lamps Amber Etched Glass w Marble & Brass Base Electrified
This is a beautiful early antique whale oil lamp that has been converted to electric. The color of the glass is a rich warm amber and the simple etched design catches the light. The lamp measures 17.5" tall from top of light socket to base. Which is 5" x 5" x 2 1/4" The bulbous part of the amber glass is 5.5" wide. The condition of the lamp is very good with just a tiny chip on the upper part of the marble base on one corner, as pictures show. It works, and just needs a harp and shade. NOTE: The Glass Reservoir HAS BEEN DRILLED and conversion back to an oil lamp may be difficult. This stands 23 ½” tall to the top of the shade(NOT INCLUDED) 18 ⅝” to the top of the light socket– and is 15 ⅛” tall to the top of the Reservoir.
