There are two impressed marks on the back of the plate with an eagle with "T.D." below it. There is a second straight line maker's mark that reads, "T. DANORTH - PHILADL". This is the mark of Thomas Danforth III, who worked out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia from 1806 to 1812. While in Philadelphia he worked in the same building as Blakeslee Barns. This is a large pewter plate by one of the finest families ... morethat manufactured American pewter. This pewter plate has a single reeded rim and shows good manufacture. The plate has a part of two impressed eagle marks. Both marks are worn and hard to read, but one can clearly recognize the "W", above the stars and eagle. There is also a "D" that can still be read below the eagle mark to the left. This would mean there is the name "WILLIAM", above the eagle and "DANFORTH", below the eagle. The second mark appearsto have a part of the name "DANFORTH" below the eagle. These marks are listed in "A Guide To American Pewter" by Carl Jacobs, mark number 122, page 81-82; where an 8" plate with this mark was valued at $65 back in 1957.

ANTIQUE LAMP AMERICAN BRILLIANT CUT GLASS Found in a local estate auction is this beautiful cut glass lamp with a pointed mushroom shade. It dates to the early 20th century. It measures about 17.5" high. Perfect for a boudoir. It is in good condition, no damage aside from minor fleabite chips around the base edge. The prisms are not all original and one is missing. Some have small chipping. This lamp was so dirty that I thought the metal was brass. I thoroughly cleaned it and found under the grime the metal is silverplate. It has a pull chain socket and takes a c-7 chandelier type bulb. The wiring is not original but is still very old and does work. It has an on/off switch on the cord. All old wiring should be checked for safety before use. The socket is marked Bryant. I could not find any other markings. Use my photos for condition ... moredescription. It measures 34" high from the base to the top of the finial x 7 1/2" wide from side to side, and weigh 5 pounds, 15.5 ounces. The shade is 17" high x 18" wide and seems like a"marriage" of eras, since the painting is very Art Nouveau, and the shade seems to be very Victorian by design. This does show some chips to the base and will need to be rewired. It is a very pretty hand painted bisque lamp. The white glass scalloped base is attached well to the font with a metal collar(see pics) The oil font is in very good period condition with no cracks or large chips(with the exception of the surface flea bites& abrasions previously cited) and with the exception of a small chip along the top of the lamp under the metal band where the band is fit over the the top edge of lamp for the electrifying purposes. Lamp base has one tiny thin crack at neck of base-there is a pic of the base where the small thin crack is visible please see pic provided for your inspection-it is very small and would be the only imperfection that I see on base. It also has expected inclusions and manufacturing surface striations made during manufacturing. Waterbury Conn. a fluid oil font glass finger lamp with lovely finger handle for holding lamp while walking in the dark of night(see close-up pics provided) This finger handle is very thick as is the remainder of the glass as wel, the finger handle has an organic thick'glob' of glass on the interior wall behind handle which is charming and reflective of how this antique primitive glass lamp was crudely made(see pics of this feature provided in close-ups) The lamp is an oil fluid font lamp with a filler cap and collar attached to glass font-there are small chips only to underneath the collar of the filler collar and the center ... moreneck piece of brass which was executed when company put these on and is traditionally seen in these oil lamps and is certainly expected. These chips are small and hidden, no cracks or other chips to glass lamp or other damage-is in beautiful and original period condition. An 1870s-1880s Plume& Atwood glass oil lamp which is signed on the thumb-wheel of the burner(see close-up pics included) There is some old residual dried oil/material left interior on bottom-I have left it in'as found' condition, buyer could remove/clean if desired(see pics provided) The Plume& Atwood Company was established in Waterbury. Conn. in 1871 and produced a full line of fluid lamps& lanterns, as well as burners and lamp trimmings for other manufacturers. We were told by Southerby's Auctions this were made in St Louis around 1895. Approximate value on this item is $29.000.00 These are in excellent condition however they are a little dusty.
