Antique 19th Cent Bronze Electric Slag & Red Glass Early Wilkenson Table Lamp
This is a Rare and unusual early Bronze Table Lamp. It has 8 Slag Glass Panels and 16 Red Pebbled Glass Border Accents. I have just learned that it was made by the Wilkenson Lamp Co. and is unmarked. Elmer Wilkinson born in Canada in 1860 started his lamp business in 1909 at 45 York St. Brooklyn. NY. with factory on 8th Ave. Wilkinson was able to bring a new level of high quality and workmanship to the lamp industry while boasting a full compliment of excellent lamps. The company enjoyed several years of high output and sales. The downturn in national economy forced the company into bankruptcy in 1915. The construction is unique in that the Glass is held in place by 3/4 inch wide strips of metal each secured with 4 tiny screws. Three of the Red Pebbled Glass accents have been replaced and the remaining 13 need cleaning. The Base is not weighted ... morebut very heavy bronze. Antique 19th Century Cobalt Blue Glass Oil Lamp Includes double wick brass burner and chimney. Both knobs have a series of patent dates from 1875.77, 80. No maker marks found. In working condition. Oil will be removed prior to shipping. Some surface wear to the brass burner. Polishing suggested. Heavy cobalt blue glass base has no signs of cracks. Chips or flakes. Photos are part of the description. Sold"as is" due to age. Measures 24" tall. Base 6" diameter. Chimney 12" tall. Top surface wear. One tiny flake on edge. Bottom of chimney rim 3" diameter.
