Inc. Wadena Minnesota. I believe the chair was intended for both indoor or outdoor use. This mid century chair has a dark brown metal wire frame that both swivels and rocks. The wire frame is in excellent condition. With no cracks, breaks, or repairs. It shows minimal light scratches/scuffs from use. There is no rust. The original plastic glider pads on the bottoms of the legs are missing and there have been new rubber pads installed at some point in time. The swivel feature is in great working condition. This chair has its original brown vinyl one piece back and seat cushion. It also has brown vinyl arm cusions as well. The cushion and arm cushions show no fraying or tears and only minimal light wear from use. The original tags are still attached to the back of the seat/back cushion. The vinyl is very clean. The chair measures approximately 32" tall overall. It is 27" wide measured arm to arm on the outside. It the inside measurement between the arms is approx. 19" The seat back is 24" tall measured from the seat bottom to the top of the back For the lowest possible shipping cost. This chair will be shipped in two peices. By design, the top seat portion is easily dissassembled fron the base by loosening set screws with a screwdriver and sliding the ends of the two coil springs out of their mounting brackets on the seat. Flame mahogany library reading table circa 1840
Stunning late Georgian/ early Victorian(circa 1825- 1840) Library quartet reading stand in flame mahogany. Beautiful french polished finish with the usual marks of age here and there- see photos. The book holding ledges pull out and store inside if you want to use this as a completely flat topped side table and they simply push back in to hold books when the leaves are raised. Each of the four leaves can be raised or lowered independently. Has a carved lion head at one end and a carved claw foot. Lift mechanism still works though almost two centuries of use mean that it's a bit stiff to use and slightly wobbly when it's in the raised position. Looks better down anyway and far less strain on the mechanism to use it that way! One advantage of this early two strut design is that when down. It's very solid and will support heavy objects ... moresuch as lamps sculptures etc without bowing) A few long dead woodworm holes in the round softwood piece that attaches the table section to the lift shaft(see last photo) but none elsewhere. Couple of splits in the wooden base of the drawer section due to contraction with age and a similar split in one of the top sections that has been polished over. one of the end scrolls on the top of the front leg is also missing- see picture 9. And that's absolutely all the faults- very few for a piece of this age! Fantastic piece of old library furniture. Inspection very welcome in South Canberra Pick up in Canberra or I will work with a courier to ship interstate. Removalist would probably charge about $200-$400 to transport this to eastern Australia If you want to get a bit of an idea of what something like this is really worth. Do a Google IMAGE search for"antique reading stand" and click on the images that look anything like this one! They typically sell for $4000 to $10,000 I have this listed on several other sites so I may cancel the auction at any time. However. ANTIQUE FRENCH EMPIRE VICTORIAN TABLE BIRDS NEEDLEPOINT BLACK GILT WOOD FRAME
We are pleased to offer this extraordinary table. This lovely. French Empire styled table dates to the Victorian era. It features a large and ornate, carved, gilded wood frame as the table top. The deep profile frame features a Neoclassical pattern of acanthus leaves with shells along the outer border. There is a painted band of black which separates the inner and outer portions of the frame. The frame houses a beautiful antique petit point(under glass) of intricate birds in a cherry tree. It is quite lovely and colorful and exquisitely accomplished. The table has 4 turned legs. The entire table is giltwood with black over the gilded sections on the legs, the table skirt, and a section of the framed top. You can see brush strokes on the black painted finishes and some of the gold underneath does peek through. There is some chipping and peeling ... moreof the black top coat as well. The table is quite striking. We purchased two of these tables at a recent estate sale and have the other, similar table, listed separately. The table is in very good condition for its age. There are a couple of small scuffs to the frame. But they are minor. The legs are good and the table is sturdy but has been braced(underneath) over the years to support it. There is a random nail on the frame face(pic 10) where the frame was attached to the legs. Please keep in mind that this is a very old piece and does have some aging. The petit point is in very good condition with some expected yellowing of the entire piece. There are no frayed areas or rips, tears, etc. This is a very unique antique table and a lovely French Victorian design. The table measures 27" wide and 23" deep(front to back) It is 22" in height. This is a B& D(Bawo& Dotter) Limited#262489 It has Germany stamped on the face and inside on the works. But it did not show up in the photos. 5 inch diameter nominal(4.75 inch actual) cast wheels. These have been sand blasted and primed with a flat black Eastwood. There is a hairline fracture on one of the spokes. Does not show up on a photo. Does not appear to affect strength of function. A6 is stamped on each wheel.
