Pre 1850's Miniature Wooden Dresser measuring 6 3/4" x 4 1/2" x 10 1/4" ht dovetailed frame with hand cut rose head nail construction still in excellent near perfect condition. missing small front trim piece near the right leg. Top drawer has a nick on two corner edges and that's really it! Still has all the original knobs which appear to be made out of bone. Dresser is solid and when the drawers are removed the frame is still sturdy! Great example of an early primitive, folk art furniture piece that I'm sure the high bidder will be pleased with!

18th-19th Century Queen Anne Sewing/Hidden Jewelry Box
For your consideration. I am offering this"miniature" piece of artisan furniture. I can only describe it as a sewing box or a hidden document or jewelry box. The mother of the person who owns this purchased it in London in the early 1960's. Unfortunately, there are no original purchase documents available. The box measures 5 1/8" high. Deep and wide(cubed) without taking into consideration the brass feet or the cushion insert. There is a pine false floor once the cushion insert is removed. The depth of the hidden compartment is 1" The box is made of beryl walnut veneer. There is retangular stringing around the two false drawers and the bottom working drawer. There is also stringing on every corner and edge of the box. I believe the stringing to be of satin wood. The very top of the box(before putting the insert in ... moreposition) is covered by some black wood. Presumably ebony. The insert cushion is trim in walnut. The cushion itself seems to be covered in velvet or valour. I do not know the construction material of the insert itself(my guess-horse hair. But only a guess) The drawer. Besides the beryl walnut veneer, is constructed from pine, held together by irregular man-made dovetails. The handles are most likely ivory. They appear to be trimmed in black or brown but, I dare say it is probably dirt from being handled over the years. For its age. This box is in remarkable condition. Upon close examination, I could find no crack separation, just minor crazing, and no missing veneer. I am no expert in antique furniture although I was general manager of an Antique and Estate Jewelry store in Virginia for 16-18 months. Have been antiquing for approximately fourteen(14) years and have had this piece examined by a Virginia licensed autioneer of twenty-three(23) plus. Each of these formats were used by Chinese artists when painting on silk on paper. And each format imposed certain compositional problems. Beautiful 19th Century Dark Brown, Carved Wall Piece
This beautiful piece was brought from Mexico by my grandfather in the 1930's. He got it in trade. I have had it examined by two experts. They do not agree on every detail but they do agree that the piece is from the 19th century. That the horizontal extension of leaves and nuts was carved first and, possibly, for a piece of furniture. The head was carved later, by another hand, and later the two were skillfully joined. Both parts are very well done. But the side piece seems to be the work of a skilled craftsman while the head is a real piece of art. Though the work came to the U.S. from Mexico. Mexico was probably not the origin. Spain, France and the Netherlands have been suggested, with the possibility that the cross piece was done in one and the head in another. This is a beautiful early 19th/ late 18th century Italian Candlestick. It was purchased in the Lake Como area of Northern Italy over 40 years ago from an Antique Dealer. It is exquisitely carved and guilded and measures and imposing 25 inches tall. It has never had a burning candle on it. It dates. I believe, to the 1800s. It measures 9 x 15 x 9 inches tall. The maker's skill is evident in the tight-fitting mortise joints.
