Antique Trunk Beautiful Restoration Patented 1878 & 1870 Very Nice Trunk!
For sale today is a very nicely restored antique trunk. Very nice restoration. I found patent dates on the latches of May 1878 and on the locks of April 1870 which makes this awesome old trunk as much as a 135 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is in good solid condition. Has had multiple coats of paint applied, three bottom slats, has four original metal wheels and the trunk rolls easily. Still has the three original hinges which are heavy duty, tight, work well and the lid closes easily. There are 30 plus pieces of original polished hardware and has the original Eagle center lock which has been polished- no key. The two original mechanical latches are HD, fancy, tight and and work well. There are 12 original solid oak slats in a golden oak color on the trunk. The ... moreinterior has been removed and it has both original trays.the bottom tray has anew bottom board. The metal/tin is in good condition. The lid stays are original. The lid lifters are built into the latches. Two new leather handles were installed with the original hardware. This awesome old flat top wall is 32 1/2W. 19 1/2D and 22H and weighs 47 lbs. Smaller Antique Trunk w/ Embossed Tin Beautiful Restoration!
For sale today is a beautifully restored humpback curved top trunk with herringbone pattern of embossed tin. The restoration turned out awesome. The pictures do not do it justice. It is an impressive trunk! I found one patent date on the center lock of March 1869 which makes this great old trunk as much as 144 years old- a true antique.
