RARE EARLY 1900s ANTIQUE 3 PANEL FOLDING Lithograph TELEPHONE PRIVACY SCREEN
This auction is for an extremely rare very early 1900s antique lithograph three part folding Telephone Privacy Screen. These screens were primarily used in the 1900-1910 time period when the candlestick telephone was in fashion. The person using the telephone would wrap the three part screen around the telephone to provide some level of privacy during their conversation. The screen panels are made of a very hard wood or a very dense composite board material and the back is finished with a thick black"dimpled" or"stippled" coating. The highly raised flowers and leaves appear to be carved from the same material and painted in red. Green and gold colors. There are two brass hinges with four brass screws each on both sides of the center panel which attach the two side panels. This screen is in absolutely superb condition for ... moreit age with just a bit of wear on some edges and there are NO pieces missing from any of the raised flowers and leaves(Please see pictures for actual condition of all details) All dimensions are as follows: Center panel- 14" High X 6" Wide X 1/4" Thick Side panels- 12" High X 4 1/2" Wide X 1/4" Thick Weight- Approximately 2 pounds. This piece will need some restoration. Especially along the edges as most of the material wrapped along the borders has either come lose or is crumbling. The lithograph is in good as found condition with one spot on the lower left screen that appears to have some slight damage. This is a rare old item and worth the attention to bring it back to life. Antique 1890's MISSION OAK 3 Panel FABRIC on Dowels ROOM DIVIDER FOLDING SCREEN
This original MISSION OAK 3 panel screen has been part of my life. For my entire life! I am 66 years old, and my nana had this upstairs with an old quilt as the panels. Later in life, when nana had went home at the age 101 years old, the screen was part of the house. I put new dowels in it about 18 years ago, and just always, had it as you see it now, with sheer curtains on the dowels. I now find myself in much smaller surroundings. And can not find room for the old room divider. If it could tell stories. But sadly, it has to find a new home. Maybe with someone doing a mission oak bedroom or living room, or, a shabby and chic room. All that has to be done, is for you to change out the curtain panel I have in it. A vintage unique 3 panel dressing screen or room divider. Have no idea when it would have been made but would guess in the 50s or perhaps earlier. Stands 65 ½” tall and each section is 18” across. Looks to have a walnut frame with some type of solid thin panel construction. Panels have had a type of varnish or the like applied to them. Heavier(shows darker) around the edges and fading to lighter application towards the middle of each. Then a stencil of roses and grid work applied over the surface. All joints are tongue and groove with no nails to be found. Rare ornate antique Art Nouveau 3 panel wrought iron window grills. Guards. Decoration or room dividers. The two larger pieces still have the original hunges. The smaller framed piece lost it's hinges. They were apparently remnants recued from an old building in downtown Portland just prior to demolition. The person who recued them painted these three with multicolored enamel paint. They are beauitiful. Sturdy and in good condition. Rare find! Elegant American 3-panel tapestry screen depicting a colonial hunting party. Each section measures 25.5 x 65 inches. Framed in oak. The screen is in very good condition.
