This reverse painted hanging glass globe shade is 7 inches in diameter with a 4 inch diameter fitter ring. Decorated on two sides with a parrot sitting on a leafy branch against a pale yellow background. This shade has been cleaned with a mild soap solution. There are small rust color specks in the glass on one side to the left of the parrot and above the branch. The bottom of the globe is also slightly darkened from dirt that has collected over the years. Slight roughness along the edge of the fitter ring with no large chips. No cracks or repairs. Here is a vintage brass lamp base for a slag glass or reverse painted shade in good working condition. All solid brass. There are some areas of darkening as you can see and a small crack in the cluster body that is shown in photo no.8. Other than that there appear to be no cracks or damage. It is 22 1/2" tall and the base is 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" with 9 1/8" being the widest measurement across the bottom. The weight is a little over 5 pounds. Sockets are marked Monowatt. This is a lovely antique table lamp. It has a domed solid glass shade with reverse painted floral rose design. The base is very heavy like cast iron. The gold surface is worn off and it is rusting underneath. The shade has a chip and also some light chips or surface roughness on the rim. See my last photograph. You can see it in my bottom photo to the left side. The lamp measures about 21.5" high. The shade is 15.5" wide across the base. This lamp is very old and shows use and wear. I purchased five of these lovely reverse-painted shades at an antiques auction. There are three clusters of hand-painted violets around each shade. The bottom rim is edged with a light blue. They measure 5 ½” from top to bottom. The diameter of the top is about 2 1/8” and the bottom measures 3” across. Four of the shades are in perfect or near perfect condition. There are“flea bites” on the tops where the shades attach to the fixtures as you would expect with a shade of this age. The fifth shade also has three tiny“flea bites” on the bottom rim. Very unique vintage reverse painted lamp. In person this piece is absolutely magnificent! It is quite large measuring a total of 22" tall. Just the shade measures 7.5" tall x 14.5" wide across the bottom. Heavy- weighing 15 pounds. The shade is reverse painted with a floral& scroll design. The outside is white satin and the inside looks like cased milk glass. I have not found a maker on this piece. The base is metal with a gold painted overlay. There is a bit of chipping in the paint near the top of the base(see picture 10th) Lamp has 3 sockets with pull chains. It is in excellent working condition. The glass shade is overall great. There is some dust in the creases and a few shallow flakes(chips) on the ruffled edge. More noticeable by touch than sight. Fabulous reverse painted vintage lamp. So rarely seen in such good condition with wonderful vivid colors. The lamp lights both top and bottom. The finial holds the top piece in place. It stands about 25" high and has the original pulls to turn it on and off. The base is three panels. The scene appears to be a cottage. The lamp probably weighs between 20& 30 pounds(I can't weigh it) The metal work is detailed and it appears to be in original condition. It is from an old house in Mt. Vernon, New York. The glass is beautiful, a ribbed effect,actually ribbed glass which is difficult to explain but works very well with the reverse painting. The shade measures about 20 inches and has 8 reverse painted panels divided by the metal. Cast iron lamp& shade I am offering a pairing that is unlikely an original one. The cast iron lamp is period- showing original cloth wiring under the base. An old rewire job that looks in need of yet another. I did not test this lamp as such- we will call it for repair- likely needs a rewire. That being said it looks to possibly have original parts on it- the brass lamp socket is marked Benjamin. Typical finish wear and patina. The shade may be a 70s reproduction- it is not signed(unless I am missing it) however it is a very stunning example of reverse painting. Some scratches inside top, but for the most part the paint is excellent on this thing.
