It measures 7/8" in diameter. Nerylla Taunton shows similar ones on p. 138 of her book Antique Needlework Tools. It would have been part of a workbox set of sewing tools. Emeries were used to sharpen and polish the steel needles of the age. Emery powder is a fine grit and the needles were pushed in and out the cushion several times. It also removed rust. This is a set of two beautiful antique/vintage victorian style lamps. They are both made of glass and metal/brass but not sure on exactly what type of metal is used. This is a beautiful lampshade that can be easily converted to a hanging swag lamp. It is ornate. Nicely patinaed brass with alternating slag glass panels of brilliant red and swirled white. From what I understand, minerals were added during the process of making the glass to get those rich colors and swirl marks. I am no expert though. I will throw in the base for free if you purchase. She is in very nice condition for her age with only a few minor chips to her apron and hem which can be seen in pictures. There are no breaks and she is all there. I believe this to be a reproduction Victorian style brass stable lamp. It is glazed on three sides and has a flat back for mounting on a wall. It takes a bayonet style bulb and the'candle' is plastic. It is wired but I must stress that this has not been tested by an electrician. This is a very attractive light and in nice condition. This is a really nice Victorian/Downton Abbey-style floor lamp. It measures 66" tall from bottom base to top of shade. The shade measures 24" top to bottom. And 72" around at the largest part. It is silk with silk brocade fringe. It looks cream colored in the photos but there is actually a pink hue to it. Midway up the stand is a 15" around glass piece wrapped around the pole, which is referred to as a smoking stand. The cord at the bottom is original and has been protected by a metal cord. Estate Sale Find! This Lamp is Interesting& I'll Describe as Best I Can 32" Tall. It's a Big Heavy Lamp. Shade is 18" Wide and 15" High including Fringe. Base is 8" Square. Shade is Champagne Tan Damask with Fringe. Pulled Nice and Tight. The Thick Glass is a Mixture of Etched and Pressed. The Metal Base& Post is Antiqued Gold Finish. It's Heavy and Solid. I Believe the Lamp has been Rewired. If you look closely at the Underside of the base a hole has been drilled(not sure if this is original or an addition) for a Night Light Bulb to Illuminate the Glass Portion of the Base. I put a new night light in and it blew right away, but the major light bulb works great and is unaffected by the night light performance. I don't know if the night light needs rewiring, or if it ever worked or how it might look ... morelit, could be pretty if you can get it working. They are both dressed in pink& white with gray hair. Pink flowers. Gold accenting and lace ruffles. Very nice and great detailing! They have a felt material on the bottom. I could not find any markings. In good condition no chips or cracks on the man. The woman has a small crack on the gold base in the back, not noticeable still in good condition. This beautiful victorian lamp came from my grandmother's home and she was born in 1900. It is in perfect working condition. The lamp stands 21" tall. The glass shade is 11" at the widest point. The brass trim around the base of shade has pits and small scratches. The other brass fixture is in very good condition. Heavy milk glass base is in perfect condition. 2 Antique Art Noveau Deco 1920's Era Victorian Style Bronzed Metal Sconces
Super matched pair of 1920's sconces. They have been rewired and they do work. As heavy as they are. I thought for sure they were steel or cast iron however they are not magnetic so some sort of metal material with a heavy burnished bronze plating. There are some small/normal for age oxidation specks and some minor plating loss along the back edges but over all very nice condition. I'm sure you'll be quite pleased with these ready to hang pair of 1920's sconces.
