Such great intricate design. base and decorative pieces are all painted cast iron. Chippy in some spots.dusty overall. I am not sure. But looks as though this may have had several fixtures at top at one time, or possibly was even some sort of gas or oil lamp.not sure. It looks to have been wired and sockets added at a later time. The piece is chain driven ceiling mount for antique oil ceiling lamp. Works great. Chain pulls down from inside ceiling mount and back inside when finished dropping lamp for cleaning or replacing oil. There are 2 different dates on the piece. Inside cast says Pat Oct 5, 1886& Aug 23, 1885 on other side of cast piece. Outside metal piece says Pat Aug 18,1885 and other side says Aug 18, 1886. Check out my other piece similar to this find. Size: Chain pulls out to 36" from casing. Mounting is 7" x 3.5" deep and 6" from hook to bottom of ornate casing. Weighs 3lbs 8oz. Condition: Original. Chain mechanism pulls down easily. Lovely Antique Victorian Cast Iron & Brass 2 Socket Floor Lamp ALMCO Chicago
This auction is for a Lovely Antique Double Socket Brass and Cast Iron Floor Lamp made by ALMCO Lamps of Chicago. I believe the lamp dates to circa 1920. It has great patina throughout the brass rods and stylized floral and scroll shaped accents. The base is made of cast iron and is highly molded and cast in a Victorian pattern as the photos show. The base has only the Very Beginning signs of surface rust. Which gives a great aged feel to the lamp. It still has its original ALMCO Lamps Chicago sticker on the bottom. The lamp is in very good condition. Especially for its age. The socket pull chains are of different lengths and there is a crack in the top cap of one socket(last photo) It won't be seen when a shade is in place. There are no other chips or cracks or dents or damage to the lamp and I have tested it and it works well. It needs ... morea finial. The lamp stands 60 inches tall.
