We have 6 listed this week.My Great Uncle owned a lamp shop in DC for almost 50 years. From the late 30's until the early 80's. The lamps we have listed this week came from his estate. My aunt, his daughter, recently passed away and we took these parts from her attic. Her Dad had strung these parts in order on a piece of wire and had them hanging in his shop. After he passed my aunt brought them home and hung them in her attic. About 10 years ago she gave us a strand of these parts. We found a threaded pole here on ebay and took the pieces ... moreoff of the wire, sliding them down the pole in the order they came off of the wire and we have had a beautiful slag glass floor lamp ever since. My aunt has recently passed away and these parts came from her attic.This one has what looks to me to be a green vaseline type glass incorporated into its design one of which has chips as shown but the others are fine. The cast iron base and steel parts had been stripped of their paint and or plating years ago and they got rusty so I took my wire wheel and went over them but you'll still need to brush them again before painting however most of the prep work is done. The base is really rusty on the under side but I cleaned the threads up and they look fine. There are 2 matching brass tubes. I polished a small area of one of the tubes so you can see what they'll look like once cleaned up. I do not have any sockets and of course the pole is missing too but the threads in the base look fine. I laid these parts out in a line on the floor and as far as I can tell there are enough to make about a 54" tall lamp. Rod is not included. Thank you for viewing. Muller Frères» unsigned circa 1920- Very large art deco lampshade molded pressed glass colored by uranium oxides. This globe is not signed but the pattern is known: the origin of the Brothers Muller is certain. It dates from the Art Deco period around 1920. The decor is typical of the Art Deco: stylized flower designs. Star bursts, rays of sun and triangles. The color is unusual: the globe is orange patinated. For uranium glass and vaseline glass. This color is rare but this lampshade glows green under ultraviolet light and it's well colored by uranium oxides. The glass is acid frosted but in some of the raised areas. It is lightly polished. A beautiful item. Typically Art Deco, from a great French glassmaker, and a very rare color. As shown by the many photos, this glass lamp is in excellent condition with minimal signs of ... morewear. Beautiful 19th C. oil lamp, pink milk glass font, marble column base no vaseline
19th C. oil lamp. The brass-mounted turned marble column base supporting a glass font with vertical stripes of milk glass, graduating from white at the base to pink at the top. The stripes have a vey"vaseliney" look to them, but I have tested this with a black-light and it does not fluoresce like true vaseline glass. Total height to the top of the burner is 14 1/2" 37cm) the diametre of the font is 4 3/4" 11.5cm) and the brass burner is just over 2" 5cm) across at the widest point, to take a 2" fitter shade. The brass parts are lightly tarnished(easily buffed up if so desired) and there is a small split on one side of the brass collar at the top of the marble column(photo No.8) otherwise in very good condition, with everything working as it should. Stunning petite pair of vaseline glass and bakelite table lamps. Uniform original finish on the push through Leviton sockets. Rewired with period appropriate NOS white silk covered lamp cord and a GACCO plug. I did find two small chips in the glass around the bottom perimeter of the base as well as 1 small chipped corner on a center bakelite break. I found two smaller ships along the bottom perimeter of the other lamp and one small chipped corner on the bottom bakelite break. Lamps measure 3 1/2" wide x 10 1/4" tall. The wick turning knobs on one are marked Paris in a banner with two flaming torches and a sun. The turning knob on the other has an 8-point star. The bases are turned brass with cabochon carved alabaster hand grips at center. The bases can be used alone as traditional candle stick holders. The green glass oil receptacles are hand blown with a light swirl and they glow fluorescent under black light. Thus being vaseline glass. Antique Vaseline Glass Fairy Lamp with reversed painting on inside
Unfortunately there is a heat crack in the shade. The crack is"inside" so you can't feel it. And with the ribbed glass its hardly noticeable. Really glows under the black light. But i couldn't get real good pictures of that. But it is vaseline glass. There is also a painting on the inside of the shade which is like a reverse painting. Which is when a painted design is painted on the"inside" rather than on the outside and you see it through the glass. I've never really seen a fairy lamp like this. Too bad about the heat crack, which is why i'm going to start it low. The base is free of any chips or cracks, there is a air bubble see photos. The shade has only the one crack, but it is on the inside and it can't be felt. So that's not too bad, its not in anyway going to break. I however do not burn ... moremodern candles in antique or vintage fairy lamps, because that's what happens. This had the crack in it when i acquired it. I have a pretty large collection of fairy lamps, and i will be listing a few especially some of my duplicates. This is a good quality oil lamp with its early marked New No1 twin duplex burner and a good glass oval heat proof chimney. The 6.1/2" diameter Vaseline font is in very nice condition with a good bayonet collar with the cork seal intact. To complete the lamp is a very nice brass 7"sq base with a square column that is fitted with a hollowed cast metal weight.
