Probably c. 1880-1910, France Item# 120012WIU03 This ... moreis a remarkable and precise work. A heavily and tastefully carved Louis XV Wingback Antique Arm Chair of the Rococo Revival period. This is a piece that was built to last with strong and heavy construction throughout. The crest is an ornate and complicated carving of flowing ribbon tied in a double-bow and interlaced with flowers that sprout over and along the frame, likewise carved carefully with a large twisted rope molding lined by a small twisted rope border. The arms flow down into curved handholds, the arm supports terminating in the frame with acanthus leaves sprouting up along the edges. These arms flank a deep and very comfortable down upholstered cushion, thick and very supportive, complimenting the overall cant of the chair- by leaning just slightly backwards. This is a simply wonderful chair to rest and lounge in. The apron is an intense display of flowers along a vine, acanthus leaves sprouting from beneath the cushion to peak out over the edge. The chair rests over cabriole front legs with intense multi-dimension floral carvings along the knees, flowing into scrolled french toes. It is a wonderful upholstered antique foot stool with a pale red damask upholstery with golden edging tucked over the sides, the apron of the stool a serpentine form with subtle molding that culminates at each center with a five-petal floral motif flanked by outflowing foliage. The stool rests over four cabriole legs with simply gorgeous and very precise carving from the knee to the toe. The surface of the antique french foot stool appears to be untouched and original. With a distressed finish of gilt on gesso with painted highlights, giving the antique foot stool incredible charm and character. The front has 3 locking drawers with the keys for each one and they work fine. The desk has faux drawers on the side and backside. So that it can be a centerpiece in the room. The finish and leather look to be in very good condition, some of the brass on the legs has come loose and may just need to be nailed in(one is slightly bent) I'm not sure of the age, it looks old, but I am not sure if it is an antique. please refer to photos on the underside of the desk and of the dove tail drawers. The hardware on the drawers says M.R. Canoa Industria Argentia.Nails are used in the construction and there are some chalk writing on the interior when the drawers are taken out. Condition: Used Location: Hatfield, United States We are pleased to offer this beautiful and ornate pair of newer vintage side tables or nightstands. The tables date to the early 1990s. They are made ... moreof cherry with a chocolate brown stain. Golden highlights are present as well. The pair have cabriole legs with carved. Acanthus leaves as well as ball and claw foot details. The apron sections are extremely detailed and ornate. They feature a carved/incised acanthus scroll and shell pattern which is present on all 4 sides. The tops are in a stepped design and are very thick. There is a recessed, window pane feature which is designed for a glass top. The tables are very nice. There are no manufacturer's marks but there is a patent sticker present. They are very sturdy though not exceptionally heavy. There are just a few and very minor nicks and slight scuffs which are not distracting and which can be resolved. The original glass is not present but should be very easy and inexpensive to replace. These are beautiful! Please note that we have the matching sofa table listed separately. The tables are rectangular and can be placed as you choose since the aprons are the same. They measure 21.5" tall. 21.75" wide and 27.75" long. The replacement glass needs to be approximately 17.25" x 23" Shipping via GREYHOUND to the station nearest you. For sale is a lovely and beautifully cast gold gilded bronze two light wall sconce by well known American lighting maker EF Caldwell. Done in the Louis XV or Rococo style and made c. 1900. The bronze is marked on the back with Caldwell's'C' within a lozenge signature. It's very difficult to find Louis XV fixtures by Caldwell. The sconce is in very good condition, but the bronze could use a cleaning if you happen to be into that. At one point there were probably crystals or lusters hanging from the top of each arm since there are a few holes for that purpose. The sconce measures approximately 17" tall x 14" long x 7.5" deep. I will be liquidating a large portion of my inventory and personal collection over the next couple of weeks.
