This Deliciously exquisite ... moreand most unusual item is simply a delight. And a genuine curio of the Victorian era. It was clear that a fine lady would need to protect her treasures from potential light fingered servants, however it seems there was also a need to ensure her expensive perfumes were not being surreptitiously dabbed on the neck of the housemaid and it must have been derived from the“Butlers Enemy” the drinks“Tantalus” first shown at the great exhibition, that the idea of combining a version of this with a lockable jewellery box must have come, hence allowing both valuables to be displayed whilst at the same time protecting them from use by the staff. It is unclear when the first of these were made and how widely they were used and for how long they were popular, clearly nowhere near as widespread in use as their counterpart the drinks Tantalus which is borne out by their rarity today. This example is stunning and in really very nice condition, it consists of four cut glass(probably Bohemian) perfume bottles themselves in lovely condition with only a couple of flea bites on one of the stoppers to fault them. The jewellery box opens at the top with lockable hinged double doors which also secure the bottles in the Tantalus; the doors also have superb bevelled glass panels to allow the jewellery below to be viewed. Inside there are three red leather lined compartments two of which have red leather covered tilt-top covers and are silver embossed with the words in old English script“ Hair Pin s” the central compartment is open. There are a few scuffs and minor age and use related marks to the leather but these are only very much what you would expect, indeed require of a used item of this age. There’s a secret drawer“there is always a secret drawer” particularly with the better pieces, this is where you keep the good stuff and is laid out as a bespoke jewellery tray, it is at the bot

An original Edwardian or Victorian oil lamp with glass font. Shade, and chimney. An exquisite item, with its original delicately embossed white internally cased yellow glass shade, and yellow glass font. The burner and shade support ring are brass, with the wick adjuster having Manufactured in Germany, and the retailers name, F. T. Sale, 129 Oxford Street. The lamp is in excellent condition. The shade has some small chips and wear around the rim where it sits on the base. The area where the flame spreader is on the base is cracked in some spots; the glass is in this area is in good condition. There appears to be no problems with the base. Please see photos carefully. This is a good quality late Victorian/Edwardian Vianne etched glass oil lamp shade that is decorated with bands of flowers and leaves. The Vianne name appears on the side of the shade(see pic) It measures 6.5"16.5cm in diameter and stands 6.5"16.5cm tall. SHABBY CHIC - LATE VICTORIAN HAND HELD FINGER OIL LAMP, PINK MOTTLED GLASS FONT
Description SUPERB VICTORIAN HAND HELD FINGER OIL LAMP This beautiful oil lamp has a mottled pink glass font which has moulded clam shells to the glass. On which sits a brass single burner and gallery with a clear glass chimney. The lamp comes with a wick. A clear glass celery handle incorporated into the font and small proportions makes this oil lamp easy for carrying from room to room. The lamp stands approximately 25.5cm high to the top of the chimney. It has an external base diameter of approximately 10cm. Overall in good condition. But unfortunately there is a hairline measuring about 6cm on the underside of the base rim which curves up slightly to the round of the base. This doesn't affect the integrity of the lamp and due to its position and also the pattern in the glass is not noticeable. Due to the damage we advise display use ... moreonly for this lamp. Antique Victorian Bohemian Prism Mantle Luster Late 1800s Czechaslovakia RED/WHI
Bohemian Mantle Lusters are glass Victorian candlesticks circa late 1800s with dangling prisms. It was considered the height of luxury in the Victorian era to have mantle lusters in your homes on display. This Bohemian piece was made in the Czech Republic. Then Czechaslovakia. This style is called"CUT TO RUBY" It is made by first blowing glass into a ruby color, then encasing that in white glass. They then cut the designs out of the white to expose the ruby underneath. This beautiful piece is very ornate. It has no chips or cracks in any area. Please look closely at my photos. I know personally that this lovely mantle has been very well taken care of.
