Hettier& Vincent A french art deco flush mount ceiling fixture made by the famous Parisian shop in art déco lighting Hettier et Vincent. Around 1930 HetV lanced a small line of chandeliers in a modernist style made with shades like the one of this ceiling lamp. It are pieces done in thick moulded glass with a acid engraved structure on the inside. The engraving is very deep. Over one millimeter, and the glass is even and glossy on the outside. High quality glasses produced for Hettier& Vincent by one of the top glass manufactories at the time. They make me think of Muller freres but there is no documentation to be found. PETITOT & MULLER FRERES : FRENCH ART DECO SEMI FLUSH MOUNT chandelier PENDANT
H.Petitot& Muller freres A french art deco semi flush mount plafonnier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by the famous Paris based company of H.Petitot Around 1930. It holds a nice ball in moulded-pressed glass by Muller freres representing peacocks. The bronze maker Antonin Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Henri Petitot took over in 1917. He wasn't a retailer at first and sold his lights to lamp shops all over France. In the early days of art deco they produced precious fixtures in high quality bronze with shades from the best french glass factories such as Muller. In the late 30's they changed their style and produced lights in a modernist look. These later art deco lamps often had opalescent shades in bluish semi-crystal by the Ezan glass company. The fixture is stamped AP for Antonin Petitot. Numerous variations ... morewith the same canopy are represented in the 1931 Petitot catalogue. see picture below. These Muller Peacock balls exist in two sizes. A small one with a diameter of 15 cm and a large one of 24cm in diameter. The one on this lamp is the smaller one of 15 cm. This model Always has a double signature. One in the mould which is often impossible to read if detectable at all. And a second one done by hand in acid near the collar of the shade. The total height of the pendant is about 29 cm(about 11-3/8 inches) and the canopy has a diameter of 17.5 cm. The lamp is in very good condition. The fixture has been replated and patinated. It comes rewired. Now holding its old B22 bayonet cap socket I could replace it for a european E14 one. For the US I will place a US candelabra base fitter. Free shipping offered.
