Vtg Wall LAMP Sconce Wrought Iron Frosted Glass Art Deco Modern Style, Damp Room
Here is a very interesting WALL LAMP. Sconce, which is vintage but I don't know the exact period for it. It has a very typical Modern Art or Art Nouveau style. But the glass shades look more Art Deco(20's-30's) However. I don't think the lamp was made at the beginning of the 20th century, but probably a little bit later. It is also possible that the glass shades/globes are original ones from the 30's. While the lamp itself is not. The Lamp is pretty heavy because of the glass and the wrought iron. The shades are in frosted glass with raised patterns. The twigs holding the shades are in wrought iron painted by such a way, that they look like bronze. But I have no idea about the material of the background which is behind the twigs. It is painted like bronze as well, but it seems lighter than the rest. It looks like a light ... morewood or resin/plaster, I am not sure. The part behind this. Where the electrical cords are, is in painted metal. At the back of the lamp. It is said that it can be used in damp locations, so a bathroom would be fine for this lamp, for example. As you can see on the photos. It is possible to position the shade at the middle towards the right, to the left, or to the center. I don't know if it is because the bolt at the back needs to be tightened, or if is purposely made like that. The bolt seems to be tightened enough to me. But maybe it will be better to check this. I think it was made in USA. Because at the back, it is written in English, French and Spanish. But I can't guarantee it, since the origin is written nowhere. The bulbs to be used are the regular ones: usual size I mean. Size of the Lamp: 24" wide. 10" tall, 9" deep. It is pretty heavy. So it is better to have a sturdy wall or strong screws to use it. Condition: The brown/bronze paint needs a few touch-ups(some color is missing here and there) And there are traces of a wall paint(ivory) on the back of the lamp. A further cleaning may be necessary, and the electrical part will need to be checked

They are circa 1930's and are wired which wire runs through the metal tubing. Scones were tested as shown in the pictures They would of course need new modern wiring. everything you see is original even the light bulbs which they come with the scones. Here's an old all original wall sconce with perfect all matching caramel slag glass on all four panels sides and bottom. There are no cracks or chips. The glass is dappled and not smooth with nice striations. The brass metal work is nearly mint with minor age related bruising. The bottom filligree is slightly askew. There is a newer plug on the back and two interior sockets. Both work fine The glass is superb on this piece. I have quite a few slag glass lamps in my collection. The glass on this lamp is as good as any I own. This piece would look great on a porch or hallway. The dimensions are 21 x 9 lamp metal filligree dimensions and 5x13 side panels and 8x5 bottom panel. High up, close to the hole for the socket. The sconces are 20 cm high(7-7/8" Depth 18 cm(7-1/16" I have cleaned the fixtures and protected them with an invisible layer against oxidation. The Original nickel plating shows some wear allowing the bronze to shine through. Nice colored patina of time and I felt no need to replate them. This model Schneider shade is always signed. But the signature is often almost impossible to read. The shades are in good condition. The sconces are rewired. They have new european E14 base sockets for which 220 volt bulbs will be added. J.Codure Lyon& Muller freres Luneville A beautiful pair of 1925-1930 French art deco wall sconces in nickeled bronze or solid brass by J.Codure: the Lyon France based designer and producer of high class art deco lighting. They hold two shades by Muller freres. This model is refered to as tulipe aux rideaux in the old catalogues. The sconces are 32.5 cm high(12-9/16" Depth 16 cm(6-5/16" This model Muller shade is always signed but its a tiny signature very close to the hole on top of the shades and so almost always large parts of the Muller freres Luneville signature was grinded away by the factory when flattening the top after the shade came out of the mold. These Codure fixtures are unsigned. Check my other listings to see two signed pairs of double wall sconces by Codure. The lamps are rewired. This model sconce is represented on page 61 of the general catalogue of Hettier& Vincent. I have the matching pair of H&V chandeliers listed in one of other auctions.
