I also noted a few much smaller nicks and rough spots to the top and side of rim. Expected very lite surface scratches. Plate is a little warped. Please view all photos. Base has honest wear consistent with a piece of this age. Glass has the standard swirl/ straw lines. Annealing lines, pot stone and air bubble consistent with glass of this age. Measures appr. 3 3/8 in. wide. Glass has a nice flint/ lead quality resonance when tapped with a finger nail. Properly glows a pale green when placed under a black light. Antique Boston Sandwich Glass Cranberry Under White Polka Dot Cased Lamp Excellent condition and clarity. This lamp has no chips or cracks. Nothing to find fault with. This beautiful lamp is 18 inch high to top of harp and 9 inches high to top of font. The white to cranberry font is in the dotted pattern with a thousand eye effect. At the very top of the font the design was cut like an upside down bell. The white porcelain base is also in perfect condition. A truly pristine lamp! Antique Sandwich Glass Whale Oil Lamp Lovely Older Puffy Design!
This a wonderful antique Sandwich Glass whale oil lamp. Glass has a beautiful puffy design and appears to be early- there are no markings to indicate the manufacturer. Lamp measures 8 1/4" tall. Base measures 6" across. Glass glows neon green under black light so probably does contain uranium(lovely) It is in very good condition with some flea bites around font edge where the ring sits(so they won't show when ring is replaced) and around edges of base(typical flea bites- nothing that is seen without looking closely) and one approx. 1/8 chip in base(again, not readily noticeable) I will be listing several more whale oil lamps so please keep checking my listings if you are interested, I will gladly combine shipping. Antique Sandwich Glass Kerosine Oil Lamp Overlay White to Cranberry Grapes C1860
The Lamp is 14 inches High and the Font is inverted pear shape that is 6.25 inches wide and 5 inches wide. The White Glass Overlay is cut to a Dark Cranberry Interior. The design is Grape Leaves and Grapes. The base is a 2 level White Marble separated by Bronze Divider with a Bronze Column supporting the Font. The cut work on the leaves is special in that the prickly edges are cut as well as the veined interior. The glass have a coin dot/thumb print type pattern. The lamps stand tall at 33" from base to top fennel. The lamps have a brass style ribbed metal pedestal that stands on a double layer of white marble accents with floral brass metal trim. The base marble has a felt bottom. Original cords are in good condition. No frays or electric issues seen. The lamps were inspected, cleaned and are in working condition as shown in the pictures. The base is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" square. The lamps seem to be in great condition for age and as expected from use and age. The lamps may show some wear such as scuffs, scratches, discoloration of metal ... morepatina, small dings/dents, frayed felt, etc. The glass has not chips, cracks or breaks. The marble has chigger bites along edging, but not noticeable unless really up close or felt by hand. The lamp is an antique New England Boston& Sandwich Company fluid oil lamp from the mid-19th century period and is one of their lovely glass overlay& cut concave prism designs(see pics) The lamp is an overlay of white glass& a concave cut prism design of emerald green glass berries& leaves which is very pretty and charming(see pics) Base of lamp is a scalloped white glass. Condition of lamp is very good with electrifying additions to lamp and imperfections cited as follows: the white glass oil ... morefont has several small flea bites/abrasions and/or inclusions which may or may not have been accomplished during the manufacture-please realize these tiny imperfections and please see an example included and presented in one of the close-up pics provided. Antique Blown Glass Whale Oil EAPG Table Lamp Converted Boston Sandwich Glass Co Posted for your consideration is this very nice Converted Whale Oil Table or Accent Lamp that I believe was made by the Boston Sandwich Glass Company– it appears to be done in the Tulip Pattern and likely from the 1870’s. NOTE: The Glass Reservoir HAS BEEN DRILLED and conversion back to an oil lamp may be difficult. This stands 23 ½” tall to the top of the shade(NOT INCLUDED) 18 ⅝” to the top of the light socket– and is 15 ⅛” tall to the top of the Reservoir. The Marble base measures 5 ⅜” square; is ⅞” thick and has new felt on the bottom(Marble does show chipping– see photos) The Swirled Brass Column& Collars are 7 ¾” tall up to the base of the Reservoir. The Reservoir itself is 6 ¾” tall and has a maximum diameter of 3 ¾” there is some ... morefogging or marring in the glass just above the Tulip Petals. FYI: The Shade(not included) is a Socket Mount and stands 7 ¾” tall– has an 11” diameter at the bottom– and a 4” diameter at the top.
