This fine pewter deep ... moredish is a wonderful example with a single reeded rim and a line around the inside of the bowl. There is the impressed famous "Love Birds" mark on the underside of the base. This mark helps to date this plate to around the time of the American Revolution or just after. This mark appears in "Guide To American Pewter" by Carl Jacobs, page 132, mark #207. Jacobs valued a 7 7/8" Dia. plate at $40 back in 1957. This is the mark of a maker or a succession of American pewterers that were believed to have operated out of the Philadelphia area in Pennsylvannia from the last half of the 18th Century.

I bought this Victorian style lamp at an antique store 30 years ago. There are no markings on it. It looks like brass and pewter but could be cast metal. The crystals are red. Blue, and green. Antique Baroque verdi gris pewter angel cherub lamps, Tiffany style
We have had this pair of metal angel lamps in our family for about 40 years. An they were old when we got them. Their details and patina are just spectacular. Each with one enchantingly angel holding up the light, and are fully operational. They are of two heights only because their their harps are different heights. They each have a matching finial. The heavy-weight metal seems to be pewter. Because is it very soft. In fact, some seams on each lampshade are in various sages of separating, but none is broken. They can be repaired, but the underlying armature rigging, which may not be original, has worked well all those years to keep the shades in proper shape. The detailing on the shades is Tiffany-like. But we do not see markings. The stained glass is thick and in great shape, and held on with fold-over clips that are extensions of the shade ... moreframing. All in all, excellent craftsmanship. These table lamps measure: 21inches and 22.5 inches. With a span of 13 on the shades, and 8 inch bases. A really special pair of lamps that never fails to"wow" visitors to our home. Good luck! Enjoy!

The metalwork is spelter with a pewter finish. The center column is Alabaster, and the base has a grey marble inset with rouge tint veining. The lamp measures 27" tall to the top of the font holder. Excellent restored condition. The lamp may have had a brass finish originally as some color is visible within the crevices. The ring between the top and the font holder is a replacement. Antique Capen & Molineux NY c1848 4 Inch Whale Oil Lamp Lantern Pewter Signed #4
You are looking at a very rare Capen& Molineux oil lamp! This lamp came from an estate in Ithaca. New York! Measures about 4 inches tall. And about 2 5/8 inches across at the bottom. The lid unscrews and holds the wick. The interior looks to be fairly clean. I believe this was intended to be a whale oil lamp. I believe this is made of pewter. There is a small pin head sized hole at the top of the handle where the handle meets the lamp(can provide a picture. EBay only allows 12) I don't think it is a defect, simply a manufacturer design. It has a few minor dents here and there(see pictures) On the bottom. It is signed"Capen& Molineux N.Y. and underneath that, a number"4" The previous owners had put labeling tape on the bottom.
