Antique Convex Glass Ornate Sterling Silver .877 Picture Frame
This beautiful old frame measures 6-5/8 inches tall and 5-3/8 inches wide. The frame by itself minus the glass and backing weighs 1.8 ounces. This shows some patina. Age and minor surface wear. Only one very small ding towards the bottom that I can see. The glass could use a minor cleaning and the frame could use a polishing but that will be left up to the lucky buyer to preserve any natural patinas. This was found in the attic of an old farm house in western new york state. This old frame is a beauty! Ornate brass gilt filigree with burgundy velvet matting. The easel back has been repaired by a layman somewhere in time. However it is functional. The matting also has been replaced. The photo is a reprint of a beautiful actress, c1920. The concave/bubble glass is original and in wonderful condition as is the frame. I believe this frame was probably made sometime around 1900. I found this treasure at a sale on the outskirts of Saratoga Springs. NY(a place known for it's grand Victorian era homes& rich history) a few years ... moreago. It remains in the same condition that I found it. The convex glass needs to be cleaned but it appears not to be scratched. Broken, or chipped. The wooden frame is tiger wood with black paint outlining the picture opening& the outer edge of the oval frame. The frame has some minor chips& scratches(understandable. Considering its age) There is about a 2.5“ crack/ split/ separation in the wood. It runs parallel to the flat back side of the frame& the best way I can describe it is that it is similar to when laminated wood layers might separate from each other. it's not the type of crack that runs straight through the thickness of the wood from the top to bottom so you only see the crack on the back of the frame. It does not affect the structure or appearance of the frame because the split in the wood doesn't run through to the front of the frame& it can easily be repaired with glue. It’s just barely visible when you view the frame from the side& back and you can’t see it at all from the front. I believe this is an original(possibly hand colored) photograph so it's a bit faded from age& there is a small tear in the photographic paper where the

Nice antique religious picture in its original frame with convex glass. The frame is 24x14" And appears to be plaster(or maybe gesso? painted in a tiger wood pattern. I have seen other frames like this before- it seems to have been a fairly common practice. The print is a little faded but otherwise is in very good condition. The backing has some tears. This auction is for the Antique Oval Picture Frame w Convex Glass as pictured. Hardwood frame is Tigerwood colored. With a gold painted inner band. Back board is a piece of wall paneling with the inner side laminated with a piece of blue fur. Frame overall is 24 3/4" x 18 3/4" Glass to outer edge is 3" Wood has it's share of minor scuffs, surface scratches and minor cracks. All wood sections are solid and the glass is all good. UP for sale we have a very special Victorian Horse Pitcher. This is an oval framed picture of two Stallions galloping. The glass is convex& curved over the print and makes for a Antique 3D effect. The frame is an Ebonized Black wood with Gold Gesso accents. The accents are very fine and add a touch of class to this special piece. The print itself is in excellent condition for its age. There are a couple of crinkles in tiny form. We mention for accuracy in listing as they are not seen. Overall there is no staining and the picture is very clean and detailed looking under the glass. There is no signature that we have found to date. There is a band of gold that goes around the entire edge of the frame. It looks fine but we do not believe it is all original to the piece. A pair of heavy gold tone metal or brass ornate oval frames with artist prints of The Angelus. The back of the pictures have an old purple velvet material. I do not know if the backs are cardboard or what’s underneath the purple backboard- they fit snug and hangs fine with old twisted copper wire. The old heavy cast metal frames measure 17 inches high by 12 inches wide. Oval curved convex glass measures 11 inches by 9 inches. These are in fine vintage condition. Please LOOK at ALL Photos to consider condition. These framed pictures are prints of THE ANGELUS by famed artist Jean François Millet who lived from 1814-1875. These old art prints are two peasant people- man and woman. This ... moreart piece represents the Angelus prayer. These are Irish peasant people working in the fields during the potato famine in Ireland that happened during the 17 th Century. The Angelus is a prayer that Catholic Christians would say when the bell of the church tolls at 6:00am. Noon and 6:00pm. The whole community used to bow their head and pray this prayer at the sound of the bell. This is why these prints are known as The Angelus. Originally painted sometime between 1857–59. I am not certain of exact age of these pieces but they likely date early 20 th Century. Interesting to know: Jean-Francois Millet(October 4. 1814- January 20, 1875) was a French painter and one of the founders of the Barbizon school in rural France. He is noted for his scenes of peasant farmers. He can be categorized as part of the movement termed"naturalism" but also as part of the movement of"realism" Millet was an important source of inspiration for Vincent van Gogh. Antique 1920's Oval Wood Picture Frame , beaded edge , Convex Glass
Most probably dating to 1910-1920's. The frame exterior measures 18 1/2 by 22 3/8 inches. All the beading is intact. As shown in the photos, the square nails hold the glass in place. The convex glass has an arc of about 1 1/2 inches, quite impressive. To insure safe arrival. I will remove the glass and pack it separately in a Styrofoam enclosure. It's large and measures about 22" x 19" including frame) It's in good overall condition. The photograph is black& white with a slight green tinge on the outter edge. The frame is gold/ bronze tone. And has a spot of repair on the top gesso design on the right bottom leaf area and touch-up paint overall. There is also a mild finish crack along the bottom left outter edge. See photos-shows the details and can be see from the front also(barely noticeable) The glass front is bubble dome convex. The back has a card stock backing and there is a wire attachment for hanging. The photograph and backing are a bit loose, but can be hung as is or you may wish to tighten it. The wooden frame has a mild old smell but ... moreonly if you get your nose on it- away you don't notice it. This is a sweet photo in antique frame.
