This is a beautiful antique gold leaf picture frame from the 1930s. The rabbet measures about 30" x 24" Each side of the frame measures about 3" wide. This frame is in very good condition. The gold leaf paint is a beautiful orange-gold shade. It is not the super-bright lemon gold. This frame is perfect for antique portraits and paintings. Old/Vintage Gilded(Gold) Ornate Wood Picture Frame-24"x32" Opening 36"x44" Total
This is a Nice Older Gilded Wood Picture Frame. Opening for picture is 24"x32" and total size is 36"x44" It is about 4" thick and has a 1/4" depth(rabbet) And weighs 12 pounds. I am not sure if it is gold leaf. But gently wiped it off, just in case. There is some red under one of the small scuffs. So it might be gold leaf. I have had it a long time. And it is really lovely, but we really need to downsize. It has a few small scuffs. And a little darker on about 1/2 side of one frame side. Gently used and it doesn't include glass. Your neighborhood hardware store will sometimes cut a piece for a few dollars. It weighs 12 pounds. And large, so shipping is quite high. If you could pick it up. I don't know much about this picture it definitely has some age and is hand painted. It says made in Italy on the back. I found it at a goodwill in Orange County CA along with a matching picture and frame that will be listed separately. The molding is approx. 5 1/2 inches wide. The rabbet opening on the back is approx. 24 by 30 inches. The sight molding opening is approx. 34 1/4 by 40 1/4 inches. This frame has an untouched surface of gold leaf that has been"antiqued" with a flat center panel that has been paint decorated. The color is quite beautiful and would be perfect for anything from a Picasso print to an old master painting. It would also make a great mirror frame. The frame is wood with built up gesso molding in an early Italianate style. CONDITION: Fair to good. There is some light wear to the finish on the outer edges but this only seems to enhance the"antique" look of ... morethe frame. There are no missing pieces and the frame is quite strong and sturdy. It would easily hold a mirror. The rabbet opening on the back has been widened by chiseling out the back of the sight molding on the top and right side as you look at the back of the frame. Large Late 19th Century GOLD GILDED GESSO On WOOD Frame SUPERIOR SHAPE
The beautiful and ornate antique frame came with a painting in it. And the stretcher corner braces are marked"PAT Feb 13, 1883, June 16, 1885, A.D.S. which gives a very accurate date for this frames creation! The frame is solid and in remarkable condition for one of this age, with very minor damage to the gesso and some corner baldness(see photos 2,3, and 4 for examples! Approx. 50.75" X 46.75" with each side being 4 3/8" wide, it will accommodate a 42.25" X 38" canvas! I am selling the painting separately, partly because this frame is too large to fit in my car, so I hope to sell it for local pick-up! BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE WOOD FRAME FLORAL CARVED AND GILDED IN GOOD CONDITION- OUTSIDE MEASUREMENTS from the front corners are 11 ¼ INCHES by 13 ¼ INCHES. MEASURED FROM THE FRONT) Frame is circa 1940’s. Maybe earlier. Frame is wood with applied gesso carving. Gold tone finish is almost like a glaze. With a dark background contrast that really emphasizes the floral carving. Original gold gilt on the frame. Condition is good– no pieces of the gesso carving missing. Frame has glass(opening for the glass is 8 inches by 10 inches) and old wood backing. A few remnants of paper covering that must have been on the back. The frame could be used vertically or horizontally. The opening on the back of the frame that holds the glass and backing is almost 3/4 of an inch deep– deep enough to hold a wood stretcher if you wanted to put a painting in the ... moreframe. Frame is almost 1 inch deep. Measured from the outside. Some discolorations to the gold tone finish on the outside edges, not visible from the front. see photo) Details: Corners don’t wiggle– the frame is tight. The frame has glass and old wood backing. This auction is for a unique and displayable antique oval picture frame in its original leather carrying case/display box. The outside of the box consists of black leather with a gilt design on front and a collapsible leg/stand on the backside. Upon opening there is a removable oval shaped gilded metal frame with plastic/glass picture cover. The inside of the frame has a piece of flowered fabric that was put in a long time ago and does not hinder its ability to put a photo in. The front of the frame is removed by popping it out and putting it back together by applying pressure. It is attached to the box by a hook and has a padded cloth interior. The box measures 6 1/2" tall. 5" wide and about 1"deep. The removable inner oval frame is 4 1/2" tall and 3 1/2" wide, while the photo space is just smaller than those dimensions. ... moreThis item is in decent condition for its age. The actual picture frame has no flaws. Just some slight wear. The box's leather shows a little wear/rubbing, the gilt is bright, while the leg on the back is a little loose and there is a newer ribbon keeping the arm from opening too far. This is a gorgeous antique Victorian style picture frame from around the 1890s. This frame is in good condition and it has a rabbet of roughly 21" x 12.5" Please contact me if you want me to check the exact dimensions of your art. This is a two piece frame and the outside piece has beautiful bright gold leaf paint. The inside piece is a nice flat mat color and acts as a sort of matting for whatever is in the frame. Fine and handsome antique picture frame. 19th- early 20th century, of gilded oak, the slightly inward-angled rails approx. 3" wide, the rabbet measuring approx. 20" x 33" the frame measuring approx. 25.25" x 38.25" overall. A bit of mild surface wear, otherwise fine, attractive, untouched original condition. Please note that because of the large size, it was difficult to photograph the frame head-on and with no distortion. Rest assured, however, that the rails are perfectly straight, the corners are perfectly square, and there is no warping or distortion of any kind in the actual item. A superb example in late-19th-century American Impressionist or Arts& Crafts taste. The reverse is perfectly flat. Making it easy for the frame to be cut down to any desired size.
