Here is a very Ornate and Elegant Century-Old Picture/ Mirror Frame made by the National Brass& Iron Works. The frame is stamped"N.B& I.W" on the reverse. Along with the designation"2902" This is a Large and Heavy frame, measuring 13 1/2" x 9" with a photo/ mirror size of 6 3/4" x 4 3/4" Material is Cast Iron with Gilt Finish. N.B. I.W. was established in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1891, and specialized in the manufacture of fine brass and iron items until it went out of business in 1911. This example is in Excellent Condition. There are no cracks, breaks, or other damage. The swing out kickstand leg perfectly supports the frame as intended, but it could also be wall-mounted. I'm downsizing from my Victorian so I must put up some of my items for sale. This is a really nice cast iron frame from National Brass& Iron Works. It has cherubs on the top and the sides. Dimensions: 10-1/2" wide 9-3/4" tall 1/2 to about 4 when easel is fully extended Condition: No chips or cracks to the metal I believe the frame was repainted before I got it. It has white paint with areas highlighted in brass or gold colored paint. The glass is possibility original.nearly 1/4" thick. It does have one mark on the silver which I photographed. It does not have the hazing so typical of old mirrors. One of the latches on the back is not original(please see the photo) Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Antique Victorian Brass Photo Frames (Set) - c1890 - National Brass @ Iron Works
For your consideration are two beautiful old frames. Late 19th century, that I am selling as a set. Both frames are made of ornate heavy brass and signed NB&IW. The larger frame comes with glass and measures 12" tall by 14"wide. The photo window measures 9"tall by 7 3/8" wide. The area within the frame is light blue. Note there is some chipping in the paint(see photos) I believe this to be the original color as I purchased these two frames separately in time and location and yet the area within the frames are identical in color. The back of the larger frame has a metal hangar on top and an old gold cord. All eight prongs are present and in good working order. The smaller frame measures 13" tall by 7 3/4" wide. Beautiful original scroll work which curves in on both ends. The mirror appears to be original to ... morethe frame, made in heavy mirrored tin with scratches over time. The back plate is scratched as well. This frame hangs with the original wire and"o" rings. 3 prongs are present and in good working order. These are authentic Victorian pieces that have natural wear commiserate with time. Approx. 115 years old. I am down sizing my frame collection and will be posting beautiful antique frames in the next few days.so please check back. Also, I always ship within 24 hours of purchase.
