Large Oak Picture Frame 29" x 25" Comes with Picture but Picture Scuffed Up
I'm only really concerned with the frame. The picture is scruffed up a little and there is no glass. I'm just leaving the picture inside and let the buyer do what they want with it. The back of the frame was sealed with paper. But was ripped open and I tried to rip off the rest of the paper, but there is still some of the residue(somewhat sticky) on the back where the paper had attached to the frame. It also has a wire hook on the back(attaching from one side to the other) The outside of the picture frame measures approximately 29" x 25" Since the frame is approximately 2 1/2 inches. This is a large decorative picture frame. I do not know how old it is. I said vintage because the 1/8" thick backing board has circle saw marks on it. Any newer board would be plywood. This board is 22"L X 17 3/4"W. It is not a glued up board. The close up picture shows a chip in the wood. Above that there is an area the same size of some paint on the back. I see one other small chip on the bottom.The backing board is missing some of its edge. The Print: Is not signed. Has some rips on the edge. One rip does go into the colored area of the picture. It is a lemon gold gilded frame, housed a lovely antique lilac painting from 1901, so I am guessing the owner wanted to be a shabby-chickee and throw some paint onto an antique frame to match her painting. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN AESTHETIC ERA MOLDED BRASS PICTURE FRAME OCT 29, 1901
This listing is for this beautiful antique late Victorian Aesthetic era molded metal picture frame. It is made with some kind of light weight metal. Possibly brass(I don't know for sure) It has a very detailed design pressed or molded with it. This frame measures 7 1/8" tall x 5 3/8" wide along the outside edge and approx. 5 1/5" x 3 3/4" along the inside edge where the photo is visible. It has a swivel stand attached to the back that has a patent date of October 29, 1901. I used it for years as a hanging frame by simply attaching a ribbon through the holes in the design at the sides. Please see the item condition description for more details. Antique Large French Style Gold Gilt Ornate Portrait Frame 25 X 29 7/8 Opening
This is a beautiful antique large French style gold gilt ornate portrait frame. I'm not exactly sure as to its age. Perhaps very late 19th century to very early 20th century. As to its origin. My general feeling is it's European, but I can't be sure. Overall it measures 27 1/4 inches x 32 inches(69.2 cm x 81.3 cm) The back opening size is 25 1/8 inches x 29 7/8 inches(63.8 cm x 75.9 cm) The molding width varies from 1 1/4 inches to 1 7/8 inches(3.2 cm. 4.8 cm) Hopefully your art is a slight touch under 30 inches. However, a back can be professionally cut out to make it a little larger if necessary. I must say. This frame is a real beauty. It's not made with nails. But instead lap joints. It's a very well made frame and must have been made by a very talented frame maker. The color on it is just lovely. In addition to the ... morebeautiful gold. You can see the red bole showing through in various places. It has its original wavy and bubbled glass. Though it does have some light scratches on it. There are a few places with slight damage. On the long molding in the top left corner a 1/2 inch x 1/4 inch(1.27 cm x.63 cm) piece of the linear molding is chipped off. This same exact piece is chipped off on the right side. The bottom left corner has chipping of about 1 inch at the interior corner where there is very ornate molding(please see photos) There are a number of age related hairline cracks. But they just blend in with the frame. There are a few other minor dings to it given its age. But nothing significant. It has what are most likely its original hanging rings on the back. They're pretty classy looking hanging rings! It weighs 8 lbs. 8 oz. 3.85 kg) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!
