For bid is this very large and very ornate antique wood picture frame.inside is the portrait of a baby(boy? or girl? and is sitting in what looks like a wicker chair. I'm not sure how the picture was done and if it is painted then I don't know what type of medium it was done in? As said before the frame is very ornate and is finished in gold. Using the outside of the frame. It measures 28" high and 24" wide and it looks to be about 2" deep. The portrait is under glass. The frame is good and tight at the corners. Gold tone finish on the frame– probably not gold leaf– the finish may be original. Or if not, was redone many, many years ago. The finish seems almost a little dull– not the crispness you see with gold leaf. Frame is circa 1880– 1910’s. Details: Frame weighs about 9– 10 pounds before any packing materials. No glass. No backing. Frame only. A little gesso is missing and there are some cracks in the gesso at the corners of the frame. Some discolorations and dark spots on the gold tone finish. Corners don’t wiggle– frame seems tight. No loose pieces of carving. Two small spaces on corners of the very inside liner. There is 1 small nick in the gold gilding toward upper left corner as shown in one of the photos. Measures approx. 28 3/4" H x 25" W; measurements of picture opening on back of frame is 20" H x 16 1/8" W. I am not an expert when it comes to picture frames. Wow.what a great find. This is a very unusual large 1880-1890 transitional late Victorian/ early Arts Crafts frame. Carved solid oak with corner block. Rope twist and lambs tongue designwork. Beautiful dry, alligatored surface with excellent patina. Frame is in great condition with minor wear. Measures 27 x 34 with a 21 3/8 x 28 3/8 rabbet. Here is a picture of the last supper that I picked up at an estate sale. Print by R. Tesar. Looks like canvas but I don't think that it is. Measures 22.5 x 18.5 inches. Neat old wooden frame with applied flowers ornate detailing. There is some damage to the frame that can be seen in the pictures. The backing is covered with clear tape to hold the print and glass in place. There is an old wire hanger.

Vintage maybe Antique BIG 28" X 34" Solid Wood Frame
Here is a VERY neat vintage or perhaps Antique solid wood frame for sale. This has a very neat rustic look. It does have some surface wear as you can see in the pictures which gives it a really neat old look and it is still nice and solid, really good antique condition. There is one strip of wood missing on the back to hold painting in place which could be replaced, but it is not necessary as it will still hold a painting fine without it. This is a BIG frame. The outside dimensions are 28" X 34" and the inside dimensions are 19" X 25" so a 20" X 26" painting would fit perfectly. Very neat old frame. Large MODERNIST German Gold & SILVERLEAF Wood Picture Frame 28 x 32 c. 1940s
Here is a beautiful LARGE vintage wood picture frame. Originated in Germany and used to house a 1940s old oil portrait. It is made of a heavy wood. And covered in red bole underlay and silver-leaf top coating. It was hard for me to get the exact color it is in my photos, it is not a bright silver, very muted and with the red bole undercoat almost looks like a dull gold in some ways( you put gold up to it looks a bit gold, you put silver up to it it looks silver) But it is more of a muted silver, with goldish tones, make sense? The entire frame measures 32 1/2 x 37 ins and insert rabbet is 28 x 32 1/8 ins. the molding is about 3 ins. wide including a thin slip liner( would look best removed) The frame is in fair as is condition with many areas of silver-leaf worn away to reveal the red bole under-paint. And some wood. What is amusing is new ... moreframes today are made to mimic this patina, so most people like the age to show in antique picture frame. There is a German tag on the back that only has the artists name of the portrait that was in here, and not the framer. I would date this frame to the 1940s time period. This is a perfect authentic picture frame for late Art Deco.Modernist, Mid-Century Modern, and traditional decors. Up for sale is a lovely northern VT barn find! This is a c. 1850s-1900s Victorian or Rococo style picture frame. It is large- 32" by 28.5" and holds a 16"x20" picture. There is no glass included with it. It is beautifully carved wood with Gesso and gold gilt paint. The second border around the inside is a golden brown velvet. The velvet is worn in some spots and there are some minor flaws on the wood frame. The wood has some cracks in it when you look close up. But overall it is in nice condition for the age. There are no huge imperfections as far as large portions of Gesso cracking off, just chips here and there. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and thanks for looking! Most significantly along bottom(see photos for closeups) and some general overall moderate wear. Glass has some very small stretched bubbles here& there, indicative of refined make for its time. The ornate portion is metal(rather than plaster) thus has no chips, just mild darkening. This will brighten up considerably with cleaning, as I see a brighter gold underneath when I wipe at surface dust. 23 7/8" x 27 3/4" Approx. 2 5/8" thickness counting all built in layers. Frame diameter approx. 4 1/4" The old original picture& matte is inside but has significant damage&or age discoloration. This was found in a Pennsylvania estate in the late 1980s& has been in climate-controlled storage ... moresince. Will need plenty of padding& heavy box to arrive safely. It is made of a medium- weight wood, had originally been finished with some light brown paint and then some dark gold paint brushed on top of that. Much has worn away, so it has a nice authentic patina only found with true age.The entire frame measures 27 x 33 ins. the molding is about 3 ins. wide. The insert rabbet for your art is 22 1/8 x 28 1/8 ins.
