VINTAGE WOOD FLORAL CARVED & GILDED FRAME 11+" X 13+" HAS GLASS & WOOD BACKING
BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE WOOD FRAME FLORAL CARVED AND GILDED IN GOOD CONDITION- OUTSIDE MEASUREMENTS from the front corners are 11 ¼ INCHES by 13 ¼ INCHES. MEASURED FROM THE FRONT) Frame is circa 1940’s. Maybe earlier. Frame is wood with applied gesso carving. Gold tone finish is almost like a glaze. With a dark background contrast that really emphasizes the floral carving. Original gold gilt on the frame. Condition is good– no pieces of the gesso carving missing. Frame has glass(opening for the glass is 8 inches by 10 inches) and old wood backing. A few remnants of paper covering that must have been on the back. The frame could be used vertically or horizontally. The opening on the back of the frame that holds the glass and backing is almost 3/4 of an inch deep– deep enough to hold a wood stretcher if you wanted to put a painting in the ... moreframe. Frame is almost 1 inch deep. Measured from the outside. Some discolorations to the gold tone finish on the outside edges, not visible from the front. see photo) Details: Corners don’t wiggle– the frame is tight. The frame has glass and old wood backing. Handcrafted period carved gilded frame with standard 16 1/4" by 20 1/4" rabbet. 20 1/2" by 24 1/2" outer dimensions, 2 1/2" width. Interesting corner carving with modernist feel, carved and pencil signed on reverse, dated 1941. Believe is metal leaf from tone of gold, but could be real gold, not sure. Heavily toned, but could probably be easily lightened if desired. Very good to excellent condition with only very minor finish blemishes from age.

Antique Italian Late 18th Early 19th Century Gold Gilded Carved Frame
This is an antique Italian late 18th or early 19th century gold gilded carved frame. Overall. It measures 23 7/8 inches x 17 1/2 inches(60.64 cm x 44.45 cm) The back opening size is 20 1/2 inches x 14 1/8 inches(52.07 cm x 35.88 cm) The molding measures 2 3/8 inches wide(6.03 cm) I have to say. This is one great-looking frame. However. It does have a few flaws. Mostly, there are about a dozen spots where the gold is chipped off. This will need some type of retouching. On the bottom piece of the molding there is a 1/4 inch round piece of gold missing also(64 cm) There are also a few tiny nicks on it. But they are simply age-related for an antique frame. On the back of the frame. Someone wrote in pencil many years ago Tuscan School 18th century. There is also an odd piece of cork along the bottom piece of the molding in the rear. Along the ... moretop and to the side there are numbers written which I believe signify the frame came from a museum and was deaccessioned at one point. Along the top molding in the rear there is a triangle shape with three holes in it where I believe there was one of the early handwrought hooks that are found in frames of this age. Unfortunately, it's gone. It has no glass. The patina is unusually beautiful. It weighs 2 lbs. 7 oz. 1.11 kg) It would be great for an old oil painting. Very heavy, vintage hand-carved picture frame.I have been informed by a knowledeable frame collector that this is a vintage reproduction of a 17th C Louis XIII Style Lely Portrait Frame. It used to house a 1920s oil portrait. So I would date it to the 1920-30s time period. The frame is carved out a heavy wood, measures 37 1/8 x 47 1/2 x 5 ins. The inner rabbet insert size is 30 5/8 x 40 5/8 ins. A 30 x 40 inch painting would work in here. The frame is in fair/good as is vintage condition with wear to the finish. Scrapes, minor chips, all common with age. It is still very solid and is very heavy. The artwork that was in here originally was marked Made in Belgium. So very possibly the frame was also made there.It could be English also. There is no marking on it, any old tag has long gone away. This is a stunning antique hand carved wood bald eagle picture frame. it is beautifully gilded in gold and is nicely carved with intricate detailing. it has two curved arms which hold the middle of the picture frame on each side. it pivots back and forth on the arms. the frame it topped with a detailed bald eagle finial and the base is nicely footed. the frame measures 9 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide. the opening measures 4 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches. it is in nice antique condition. Come cracking in the eagle from age buts gives a nice antique look. Excellent c1930s Newcomb Macklin style Arts and Crafts frame. Fantastic mottled. Worn red and gold surface on the cushion style molding with stepped inner and outer edges. Outstanding condition with minor wear. Great quality frame measuring 20 3/4 x 24 3/4 with a standard 16 x 20 rabbet. Beautiful frame.and a tough find. You won't be disappointed. Old 17th Century Spanish style hand carved gilded wooden frame
This is a beautiful 17th Century Spanish style frame. It is hand carved and gilded. I have no idea exactly how old it is. As it originally came on an old painting that I acquired. The overall frame measures about 21 7/8 x 20 x 2 1/4 inches. The opening measures 12 1/4 x 10 3/8 inches. It would make a wonderful rich frame for a small painting or drawing or tile.
