Vintage Thomas Lawrence "Lady Dower" Oval Picture in Old Frame
A Cameo Creation: Lady Dower by Thomas Lawrence picture. Outside frame is a silver coloring non stick to a magnet. But really not sure of its material. Measures 5 3/4" diameter. Inside fabric is a beige coloring in fair condition with picture in the middle. I really don't have to much knowledge of this just that is old and was given to me. RARE Antique Gold Metal(Brass? `11 1/2" Plate"THE RED BOY" Picture by Sir Thomas Lawrence There is a historical write-up on the back which reads: The RED Boy" by Sir Thomas Lawrence(1769-1830) Valued at over $1.000.000 and considered one of the finest child portraits ever painted, RED BOY" is a classic example of Sir Thomas' use of rich color and life-like beauty. Lawrence was, to his world, what the camera is to ours. Before he was twenty, he had established his mark and in 1792 succeeded Reynolds as"painter in ordinary" to the king. A contemporary of Reynolds and Gainsborough, he was knighted in 1815 and was a member of the Royal Academy. A perfect companion piece to"THE BLUE BOY- by Sir Thomas Gainsborough. which I have listed in a separate auction! This one and the one I have listed in a separate auction. THE BLUE BOY are priceless! This large metal(brass? plate that has a picture of THE RED BOY glued to the middle. The front of the plate is painted in a teal blue design which brings out the picture of THE RED BOY. Some of the picture paper has pealed off in a couple of spots. Not too damaged to be so old!
