It's an excellent fascimile of an antique Art Nouveau frame. Made of solid cast iron in a natural browned shade. Lovely detail. The condition is very good and sturdy, however it's missing it's glass and backing. This sale is for the frame only. On the top of the back, there is some surface rust. On the top of the front, there is what might be the beginning of it(oxidation darkening) but this really doesn't detract from the overall great looks of this piece because it coordinates with the natural color of the frame anyway. Beautiful cast iron frame with lots of detail. Self standing model with a kick out foot in back. Appears to be a reproduction of the original. The original frame had screws and bent wires to hold in the photo at the back. This one has pins and tabs which indicates that it is a reproduction of that old frame. Still a vintage reproduction at that and very attractive. I saw an original of this frame at an antique store this week and you cannot tell the difference from the front. A vintage cast iron mirror photo frame. Has a nice art nouveau styling with a brass colored finish. The design is raised in some areas. Not sure of the age or maker. But is definately old. No apparent damage to the frame or stand.Some one placed a mirror in at some point, but could easily be removed. Holds about a8" by 10 3/4" photo, or the mirror could be left in place. I'm not sure how to date this. It is quite unique and the back would make you think it's from the 1800's. But the design on the front looks Art Deco or Nouveau. Frame is heavy and I haven't attempted to clean it. I would think it's either cast iron or brass. Measures 9" tall x 6" wide. No glass and there is an old picture in it. Back stand is adjustable. For your consideration is this Antique Victorian Art Nouveau Cast Iron Ornate Gilt Wall/Mirror Picture Frame Description: This is an antique. Victorian era picture frame. This cast iron frame has an ornate, floral design surrounding the bevel glass insert. The cast iron portion of the frame has a brass or gilt colored paint on it. The metal back of the frame is held in by four screws and there is a loop for the frame to hang on a wall. The back of the frame is marked, 669, Patd, and"June 19, 94. The frame measures approximately 15" tall, 10" wide, 2 1/4" deep. It fits a picture or mirror approximately 71/2" by 10 1/2" That is what the glass measures approximately as well. This frame does not come with a mirror but could be used for one if you would like. Condition: There is some loss or wear of the paint in areas ... moreon the frame(especially on the back) from its age and use. The glass has minor surface scratching. But no major defects such as cracks or chips. We have not taken the glass out or opened the back. Please refer to the photos for further detail on the condition of this item.
