ANTIQUE WALNUT CURRIER & IVES CRISS CROSS FRAME PORCELAIN BUTTONS & VINT. PRINT
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CARVED WALNUT FRAME WITH GOLD LINER. Circa 1860’s– 1870’s. Corners have the original applied criss-cross walnut molding with porcelain/ metal white“buttons” on each corner. Frame is a Currier and Ives style frame. In original walnut with fluted design in the wood, with original finish and original gold liner in the frame. Frame and contents weigh about 2 pounds before any packing materials. The frame contains a vintage print– part of an old calendar from the 1960’s– a young boy on a horse with his dog– maybe a spaniel. Outer measurements– 14 ½ inches wide at the end of the extensions and 16 ¾ inches long. Including the walnut extensions at each corner. The front molding measures about 1 inch wide. Opening for the glass is approximately 8 ½ inches by just less 10 ¾ inches. Measured from the back. Finish ... moreon the walnut is original– kind of a soft matt finish. Not shiny. There are a few slight chips on the wood– one small piece missing on lower right corner– see picture. The gold tone liner is original. But has discolored over the years. Corners are tight. Frame has glass and cardboard backing. ALL SALES FINAL. I am selling a frame that is close to a hundred years old. Naturally there will be irregularities and flaws in the wood. This is an original Currier and Ives print in an original antique rustic frame. The frame retains its original glass and backing. The print. Summer Morning is Conningham#5869. The print is in poor condition, with a hole in the top center(from a knot in the wood backing) and is missing a portion at the top right corner. In addition there is a light moisture stain on the bottom right. There is a gold gilt liner in the frame which is missing about 5 inches of gilt at the upper right and three small spots along the top section. These defects can be seen in the photographs. Another seller has this print listed on eBay for $550, but that print is in good condition. You could hang this for its decorative effect in an appropriate setting or use the frame for another print.
