Vintage White / Beige Ceramic and Wood Table Lamp - PAIR
These lamps were in my grandparent's house. They are probably from the 1960's. But they have no markings. They have a gorgeous graduated teardrop shape and a pure mid-century ceramic texture. Don't know what the wood is, but it looks like rosewood or walnut. The silver bases needs some touch-up, and there is only one shade. Work fine. Seller added the following information: Update: After inspecting the one remaining shade more closely. I realize it is NOT in good condition. The wood pole is a substantial piece– 12-1/2” diameter solid base maple base with a hole in the center for wiring. The pole section of the lamp has a bottom dimeter of 5” and tapers slowly to a 2-3/4” diameter at the top. It is an uncommon heavy base that easily supports the large glass shade. Carved wood like lamp base with shade and fineal, syroco?
27 inch tall lamp. Base looks like wood, but it has a different sound when knocked. It looks like wood, but on the bottom, it looks like it came out of a mold, syroco wood? Some composite? The bulb part looks new, but it looks like someone made it into a lamp, I am not sure. The lamp is cut on top(maybe to make it into a lamp? See photo. It is heavy. You are bidding on a brass"arm" used to light gas lights or lamps from about 1880 to 1916. In 1916. Gas lights were no longer used as street lights. The brass is marked" New York" It is approximately 28 1/2" long. With a wooden handle. The curved top was used to push up the glass dome of the lamp and the small round piece that goes out to the side housed a wick that would ignite the gas. It makes a great decorative piece and is in excellent condition- see photos.
