Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE GJPaw Auctions is pleased to offer a beautiful Pre-Columbian painted polychrome Copador bowl. From the ... moreMayan culture, Honduras. A wonderfully painted polychrome bowl in red. Black and cream, it features bands painted with various geometric motifs, some linear in nature, others curvilinear. These bowls convey images of esoteric knowledge in the form of pseudo-glyphs and references to mythology. It measures 7 inches in diameter by 3 inches in height(7.62 cm by 17.7 cm) and dates to the Maya Classical Period(300-900 A.D. During this period. The Maya began using polychrome slip paint, meaning they used many different colors to decorate the pots. This method of decoration became almost homogeneous for Mayan potters, thus signaling the beginning of the Classic Period. The pot shows wear consistent with a dating to this period, and generally is in very good condition, with rubbing, minor scratches, tiny chips and wear showing on the inside. It is guaranteed authentic and would make a superb addition to any collection of Pre-Columbian ceramics. From the Tuza ... moreCulture of the Narino highlands of Colombia. It has a simple rust-colored slip-decorated interior. The design is laid out in four quadrants, with two pyramidal grid or"net" areas and two figural motifs on opposing sides. To many Amerindian groups, the net motif referred to the Milky Way, which was metaphorically described as the net in which stars were caught and concentrated. As suggested by the large implement of office and the planetary head surround, the figure probably represents a shaman or other person of spiritual importance. Pre Columbian reproduced Muisca terracotta pottery double bowl stirrup vessel
This is a really nicely created Pre a Columbian double Jar and spout stirrup vessel typical of Muisca Culture of Columbia. It was recreated in painstaking detail with patina and manganese deposits. I believe a series of Pre Columbian art pieces have been made in Britain and this is one of several I have purchased. Nicely done. Sits on two pottery rings. Great for the lower budget collector of pre Columbian artifacts and from a culture not typically seen online. Great eye catching decor. Muisca culture is from Columbia circa 5000C to 1500BC. They were a very large and well devolved pre Columbian confederations of cultures and were larger than most other groups more readily known. Thought to exist beginning as long as 5500 BC. Heavy item for shipping but sturdy. 11 inches long. 8 inches tall, and 51/2 inches deep. Big boy. Beautifully rendered. ... moreSee my other Pre Columbian artifacts and unique gifts.
