Seattle, an‘Official Souvenir’ so it says) of the 1909 Alaska Yukon Pacific Expo in Seattle. Embossed down the front. Amid much scrollwork and decoration, are William Seward, Chief Seattle, and a lumberman. Under“AYP Expo” in the bowl is the embossed image of the Hall of Congresses. Down the back, a flag, Asian buildings, scenes, and people and, in a banner, Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. I think the Asian images are a nice touch; very often, people seem to forget about the‘Pacific’ part. On the back of the bowl are embossed facsimile signatures of Expo officials. Below that is a Native American(Eskimo) totem pole. On the reverse is a polar bear. Followed by a seal and below that a church. And oddly enough below that what appears to be a swastika symbol. Nice vintage 1959 demitasse spoon that commemorates the entry of Alaska as the 49th State in America. The handle is decorated with a star with a 49 inside. The Great Seal of the State, 1959 and ALASKA going down the handle. The spoon measures 4 3/16" long and has been polished. The spoon bowl has no decoration. The back of the handle is marked with STERLING and the maker's mark of the Bell Trading Company(1935- 1980s) Unless indicated as new. All of our listed items have been used over the years.
