Great 1904 Baltimore Fire Souvenir Commemorative Spoon Sterling Silver
The Great Baltimore(Maryland) Fire raged for two days in February 1904 destroying over 1.500 buildings and a major part of the central city. One reason for the fire's duration was the lack of national standards in fire-fighting equipment. Although fire engines from nearby cities and states responded. Many could not be used because their hose couplings would not fit Baltimore's. Perhaps the greatest legacy of the fire was the impetus it gave to efforts which led to standardized firefighting equipment in the United States. Especially hose couplings. Listed here for sale is a marvelous memento of that fire– a handsome sterling silver spoon manufactured by Mechanics Sterling. A subsidiary of the Watson Company. The embossing on this spoon depicts the intricate work performed by the talented craftsmen employed by silversmiths a hundred ... moreyears ago. The front of the spoon bears a bust of Lord Baltimore and other icons of the City. Depicted on the reverse of the handle are two scenes of the fire which originated in the Hurst Building. The back of the bowl bears a light monogram. Length of spoon is six inches(6” Weight is 1.0 oz. on my postal scale. Note: Pictures taken with available light so reflections and shadows are evident. This is an ongoing trend and these individuals seem to complain if silver prices go down between the day they buy and the day they receive. When one melts silver one can lose as much as 5% of the weight in the smelting process and I can not be held responsible for weight lost after melting. I do not generally melt anything that is well made as it makes little sense to me. So any potential loss should be considered before purchasing my items. All my items are measured with a standard tape measure and are rounded off to the quarter inch. I attempt to be as accurate as possible. But odd surfaces can prove difficult sometimes as I lack a pair of calipers. With over a thousand items in my store. Errors do occur, albeit infrequently. I'm not perfect, contrary to popular opinion. If there is any issue, please contact me first.

Sterling Silver .925 commemorative spoon Alaska,Yukon, Pacific. expo ca. 1909
A-Y-P( Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition) The fair was evolved from an idea of Godfrey Chealander's. Chealander. Then Grand Secretary of the Arctic Brotherhood, was involved in the exhibit at the 1905 in. Originally. He pitched William Sheffield of the Alaska Club and James A. Antique Silver Commemorative Spoon Prince Ranier Princess Grace Kelly Monaco
Antique Spoon This is an antique collectible spoon. I believe this is composed of sterling silver but I am unable to say for certain. There are no markings on the back. But there is a tiny, tiny hallmark in the bowl of the spoon, mixed in with the decorative elements. I will try to get a close picture of the mark. This spoon was most likely to commemorate the marriage of Prince Rainier of Monaco to the iconic Grace Kelly. The entire piece measures 4 1/4" in length and weighs 16 grams. This is in great condition overall with some light signs of age or use. There are tiny spots of tarnish. Which would be removed with proper cleaning. There may be tiny scratches or spots of wear, but I see nothing of significance to report. Please see pictures for more details. Customer Promise FREE SHIPPING to Continental United States only.
