The handle is ornate on the front, with illustrations of the state seal, and symbols of industry that include mining and agriculture. The handle is also embossed with the word"MISSOURI. Gorgeous old souvenir spoon from St Louis. It is signed on back what appears to be a ram symbol inside a triangle. The spoon is from the 1904 St Louis exposition/ world's fair& it has a lovely enamel design. Pictures do not do it justice. A little over 4 inches long. Antique Gorham sterling silver St. Louis spoon, 1850-1899

A circle with a motif that couldn’t be identified, the words“ St. Louis. and the depiction of a bearded man wearing a crown. This may be King Louis IX of France. Namesake for the city, but most depictions of the king show him clean shaven. On the back. The Gorham hallmark is on the bowl near the handle. In the circle is“Pat. 91. and the name of Hess& Culbertson’s jewelry store is engraved. The age of the spoon is likely late 19 th Century. The Gorham hallmark is a style from that era. And the patent date of(18)91 would also suggest the 1890’s. George Judson Hess and Stephen D. Culbertson opened their jewelry store in 1883. In any event. Antique Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon w/Indian Head& Corn from St. Augustine. Florida. This sterling silver spoon is in good vintage condition, with some surface scratches& some discoloration in the bowl. It is 4 1/8" long& 15/16" at it's widest. It is marked Sterling& has the makers mark on the back. It weighs 11.8 grams. The bowl has an image of the Old City Gate of St. Augustine, Florida. The handle has an Native American Indian Chief's head on the top. He is wearing a full feather head dress. There are stalks of corn plants winding up the handle to the Indian head. The back of the handle is also decorated with the image of an bow, a fringed leather quiver with feather-topped arrows sticking out of the top of it. There is also a tomahawk. A great looking souvenir spoon for any Native American collector.

And being made in Chester. The spoon bears the Cross Hospital"logo" of the square shaped cross atop it. The spoon is Approximately 4 Inches Long and the bowl is 1 Inch Wide In Overall. Excellent, Used Condition. History of the St. Cross Hospital Legend has it that the Hospital’s foundation originated in a walk that Henry of Blois took in the Itchen Meadows. Henry of Blois was a grandson of William the Conqueror. He was supposedly stopped by a young peasant girl who begged Henry to help her people. Who were starving because of the civil war. The parallel with the Virgin Mary was not lost on Henry, who was so moved by the girl’s plight that ... morewhen, a little further along the river, he discovered the ruins of a religious house, he resolved to use the site to establish a new community to help the poor. How much of this is fact is unclear, but we do know that Henry of Blois was young, wealthy and powerful: a monk, knight and politician in one. Appointed Bishop of Winchester in 1129 at the age of 28, he founded the Hospital of St Cross between 1132 and 1136, creating what is said to be England’s oldest charitable institution. The Hospital was founded to support thirteen poor men. So frail that they were unable to work, and to feed one hundred men at the gates each day. The thirteen men became the Brothers of St Cross. Then, as now, they were not monks. St Cross is not a monastery but a secular foundation.
