This one i s most likely from on e of their encampments. Although it does not bear ... morethat date. The bowl is embossed with the GAR crossed cannons and flag symbol and"Fort Monroe" Fort Monroe. Point Comfort, Virginia, remained in Union hands through the Civil War, although most of Virginia went Confederate. The bowl is pointed and nicely sculpted. It has a really nice figural handle. With a soldier holding a rifle. Atop a column. Front and back. Size: about 5-3/4" long. Condition: The spoon is in good condition. And the mold is good. It has a bit of very light surface scratching and may have a little tarnish here and there. Not much. It has some light colored spotting on the back of the bowl. Not sure what it is, but is not pitting, may polish off. Age: I'm guessing 1890's. E ngraving: None Maker's marks: Sterling Pat" with the old Howard Sterling Co. hallmark. The tip of this spoon features the seal of the City in the shape of a castle decorated front and back. The spoon has a twist shaft ending in a Keystone marked for Penn. There is an ornate Initial Monogram on the back of the tip. The back of the bowl is marked for Patent 1891 E.P Roberts and Sons. This spoon was made by J.C. The back is marked"Pat 1987" along with"Sterling" and"Shreve& Co. It measures approximately 3 7/8" L and weighs 7 grams. The middle spoon is marked"1775" on the front. The back of the handle is marked"Pat.Apl'd for" Sterling" along with"Geo E. Homer" The spoon measures approximately 4 1/2" L and weighs 13 grams. The spoon on the left is marked"Ft Dearborn" on the bowl. The back of the handle is marked with the Wallace Hallmark along with"Sterling" The spoon measures approximately 4 1/4" L and weighs 12 grams. The spoons are in good condition.
