It is in very good condition with normal wear. Ft. Dearborn was a U.S. fort built in 1803 beside the Chicago River in what is now Chicago. Illinois. It was constructed by troops under Captain John Whistler and named in honor of Henry Dearborn. Then U.S.Secretary of War. FT. DEARBORN MASSACRE/CHICAGO 1833 (WATSON CO.) -Sterling Silver-Souvenir Spoons
The rendition of the BATTLE of FT. DEARBORN and subsequent MASSACRE of US TROOPS by the POTAWATOMI INDIANS is beautifully embossed on the shaft of this very detailed STERLING SILVER spoon. The battle took place on 8/15/1812 and lasted a mere 15 MINUTES. However. Settlers continued to pour into the area and in 1833 the modern city of CHICAGO was formed. The spoon is in immaculate condition with very little wear. The spoon is stamped STERLING and has a maker's mark for the WATSON CO. The spoon is 5.50 INCHES long and weighs 18.1 GRAMS.
