Sterling silver souvenir spoon with gold wash in bowl and on back of bowl. World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago, IL, 1893. There is a beautiful design in relief of the three ships- Pinta, Nina& Santa Maria in an Art Nouveau style in the bowl of the spoon. The front of the handle is Columbus Landing and the back of the handle has a relief design of"Convent of Palos, La Rabida" in Palos, Huelva, Spain, a place famous as a departure point for Columbus and where, apparently, he"consulted with the Franciscans. regarding expeditions of discovery. Replicas of the three ships are present today in the convent in Palos. The gilt wash on the back of the bowl has been somewhat rubbed off, otherwise the condition overall is VG+. The bowl is embossed with the Alaska Building and the handle is double-sided and depicts several Pacific Northwest icons. The front of the handle shows the Seal of Alaska at the top. 1901 Pan American Expo - Souvenir Spoon - Sterling Silver - 3 1/2" - Buffalo
Up for auction I have a Nice Little Souvenir Spoon that was sold in anticipation of the 1901 Pan American Expo. Which was to be held in Buffalo, New York. This spoon features on the front of handle, a Buffalo running across a Prairie and a full figured American Indian Warrior. In the Bowl there are two Hemisphere Ladies holding hands, representing North and South America and PAN-AMERICAN EXPOSITION 1901. It is marked on the back of the handle with* S* Sterling Pat and at the top is Niagra Falls. It measures 3 5/8" long x 7/8" wide and weighs 10 grams. 2-Sided Niagara Buffalo Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon Pan American Expo 1901
Antique Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon This is a nicely detailed 6" sterling silver souvenir spoon made by F. Whiting. It commemorates the 1901 Pan American Exposition. The most prominent feature is the 3-D buffalo on the top of the handle. Which is detailed on both sides. However, just as nice is the eagle on the back side, which features quite a bit of depth. Back to the front, we have a globe, decorative flourishes, and a well-etched scene of Niagara Falls. The back of the handle has the Frank Whiting mark(the W with flares) As well as a'Sterling' mark. Condition: Excellent. Though there is less detail on the globe compared with other parts of the spoon, but I don't think this is actual wear. There is some typical light wear on the bowl commensurate with age. I have not polished this spoon, as many collectors prefer to ... morehandle that job themselves, or like to leave items as untouched as possible. The handle shows the California Building and the words PPIE(for Panama Pacific International Exposition) San Francisco 1915. The rear of the handle has the maker's mark for Charles M Robbins. Sterling, Official Souvenir, P-P-I-E. The spoon seems to be in remarkable condition for its age, with only some light scratching and tarnish imbedded in the design. Hand etched image of the Commerce Building from the Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition held in Nashville, 1897. In addition to the building are the words COMMERCE BLD'G TENNESSEE CENTENNIAL NASHVILLE 1897. The celebration was for the 100th year anniversary of Tennessee's entry to the Union. The stem has TENNESSEE embossed on it. And the handle is topped with the TN State Seal. The reverse has the initials G.R. The reverse of the stem is marked with the Whiting makers mark and STERLING. This is antique high quality sterling silver souvenir spoon(5 ¼ long) celebrates the 1892-1893 COLUMBUS Exposition held in Chicago Illinois. The handle features very detailed image of Columbus portrait. Below flowers, then feather in the ink well, books and compass, map and navigational instrument and writing COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION down the handle. In the gold finished bowl it has embossed detailed scene of Columbus on the ship deck with man pointing to land and another holding cross. On the back it has more images: tall ship. Antique Sterling Souvenir Spoon that has a bowl shaped like a frying pan. At the bottom of the handle is a ladies hand holding the pan. It measures 5 1/4" long and is marked" STERLING" on the back of the handle. At the top of the handle on the front is an Indian Chief and on the top back of the handle is a buffalo with Pan American Exposition. 1901. It has a natural patina and is in excellent condition.
