It is a baked on finish I use on my cast iron pieces that makes the piece rust resistant as well as beautiful. This is not a spray painted piece. I am really not sure what to call these. They might be large shelving brackets but I think they went in the corners of a large door or entry way. This auction is for the pair of them. Each one measures 21 inches by 21 inches by 31 inches across. One of them is in perfect shape the other has two cracks in the ornate section however is still solid. I thought about welding those two parts but thought I would leave it to the next owner. I was going to put them in the corners of a door way but they were just to large for that entry. Early 20th Century Cast Iron Door Mat This is great original cast iron door mat that was brought over from Germany. The item dates back to around the 1920s/ 30s The door mat has a great design and would have been sunk into the ground in front of an external door. It can be utalised in this way again and has its screw holes already in place or alternatively it can be rested on the ground. The mat is a good size and has minimal wear. The wear that is evident includes some light corrosion and one or two of the central bars are slightly bend. Rustic Primitive Antique Cast Iron Boiler Door Fancy Design 15 lbs I didn’t have a lot of time to shop this week because of visiting relatives. But I found some awesome pieces regardless, and I’ll be going to my favorite flea market this weekend, so I’ll have a boatload of items, fingers crossed, that will be new. I appreciate your business! I think it's a hoot to see such a utilitarian item with such a fancy design- this one has THE LOOK that we love- fancy. Yet primitive, rustic, yet strong. Made of 15 lbs of cast iron(the cost of the shipping will reflect both the size and weight of this one) this old boiler door was made to last and has! Waiting for it's next repurposed life, it is a beautiful piece with a killer rustic patina and will display very well- indoors or out. This is not a piece that would hang flush on a wall, so you ... moreknow. For one thing, it is not flat, it has a curved shape as part of its design, and for the second thing, it has a"tongue" for lack of a better word that sticks out the back on the bottom that used to be part of its closure. This is also not a piece that will stand independently- I had to lean it for my photos. loveLoveLOVE the fancy relief design on the front- it has a border with a scrolly design at each corner, and then almost a crest shape in the center with what I'll call scrolls, lattice and leaves surrounding it- see my photos. The piece measures 24 1/4" wide and 13 3/4" tall. It is in excellent solid and sturdy structural condition- you can see that it has its original two iron handles too, on the front of the door. The patina is very very very rustic. This is a very old piece of cast iron that has been living in a barn, so it's not anything you wouldn't expect. There's looooots of rust- old dark almost black in some spots, and lighter newer in others. I see no holes or sharp edges or anything beyond surface, though.
