Antique vintage decorative architectural plaster head mask Greco-Roman church
A large decorative antique plaster head measuring approx 13" x 13" x 6" 33cm x 33cm x 15cm) possibly from an architectural moulding or grand building. It makes a stunning feature or an impressive wall hanging. Its in good condition for its age- I believe it has been painted in matt chalk coloured paint a long time ago and there are a few small areas where this is peeling. But I think this adds to its vintage character, although you could probably strip the paint off if you wanted to get it down to the bare plaster. This is pretty heavy and being plaster. You can collect or I am happy to send it by courier. The rope would fit in this space for ringing.In fact while searching the internet for a similar item I can across two, both in England with very high price tags, selling for about $350.00 US dollars. This wheel came from a local church that will be torn down soon. The church stands on the same road that General Lee used to retreat from the Gettysburg Campaign. I've been told it is at least 150 years old. This piece measures approximately 52" in diameter and has layers of wood joined by nails. The board is sturdily made from solid oak with a board backing. The numbers slide in from the side of the board and it comes with 11 numbers though more could easily be made. There are just a few old woodworm holes to the backing board which I have treated just in case. There is an old plaque to the base of the back which reads: Lower Froyle Hampshire Wesleyan Methodist Church- To the glory of God and to remember the faithful ones who have loved him in this place of worship- Sing unto the Lord- E. The. Carving was apparently broken from a stone lintol fronted with carvings of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John during the 16th Century Reformation of the churches and monastery's by Henry VIII. The previous owners told me that the head had been displayed in a museum until it was aquired in the 1940s. Antique Victorian Gothic fretwork tracery oak glass light lantern from a church
A beautiful antique Victorian Gothic Revival church lantern made from oak/ oak veneer and graduated frosted glass. The lantern itself is square profile. Measuring 6" x6" across the moulded oak framed top and 5.5" x 5.5" across the similar open base. The wooden structure stands 6.75" high, plus the hanging arrangement which is fitted to the original oak/oak veneer shaped central plate- this sill has its original tiny domed screws. The 4 original panels of frosted/sand-blasted glass are graduated from a speckled terracotta/rust colour at the top to colourless at the bottom, giving a lovely warm, mellow tone to the lighting. The panels are still held in by the tiny, original metal tabs and pins inside the oak frame. The gorgeous Gothic tracery fretwork panels are cut from what looks like an oak veneered board rather ... morethan solid oak(but I could be wrong) All this and the dark oak dyed& waxed finish are completely intact and original. There are a couple of tiny chips/ scuffs to the oak here and there which are inevitable given the age of this piece, but no faults to the fragile tracery and no splits, repairs or other problems. I bought this lantern from a church antiques specialist when I first moved into my Victorian Gothic house around 10 years ago and it has been hanging here and in use ever since. I had a very nice antique copper finish bulb holder with integral hanging hook fitted along with bronze coloured new(safe! flex and a very authentic looking Gothic style bronze finish chain with ceiling rose and internal electrical fittings for direct wiring to the household mains. This is a solid piece of French limestone and is an antique that was over a small doorway of a church in Europe. It is massive approximately 4 to 5 feet across. Antique 1800's North Dakota Church Alter
This alter came from the St. John's Church that was on display at the Bonanzaville Pioneer Village and Historical Museum of North Dakota. The church had a fire this past summer and was too expensive to repair so they sold the items that were inside. You can see in the picture that the finish on the wood is peeling from the heat of the fire and there are some splits in the wood. The piece that goes on the very top needs to be glued back together and is missing a couple edge pieces.There is a piece missing. The piece is an outside end piece shown in pictures 20& 21 but is missing on the other side shown in the 38th picture so you could have one made or else remove the one on the other side to make it the same on both sides. Hello and welcome to our auction! We are offering this wonderful Antique Architectural Lion Head Fountain Piece! Not sure where this piece was originally from. could have been from a hotel. Garden, or church.but wherever it may have come from, this is such a unique and one of a kind piece that could be used as a compliment to so many creative projects! This piece looks really old. guessing at least from the early 1900s but looks as most likely might even be older. when observe characteristics such as the unique glaze and color of the paint. And primitive style of pipe which comes out of mouth. The main composition seems to be some type of hard plaster/ rock material. If you look on the back of the piece. There is what appears to be the original pipe. possibly that was used as connection to make work as a fountain.which would extend through ... moremiddle of piece and out of mouth. This piece has some uneven cuts and dimensions. guessing from whatever it was originally designed for. But estimated, the piece measures about 10 1/2 inches from top to bottom and 5 1/2 inches wide. Measured from the flat part of the back, the face sticks out about 5 1/2 inches. Please scroll down under this description for additional views. 16 1/2" BY 11 1/4" BY 1/2" solid oak panel salvaged from a church. You can see by the edge on the back side and the unpainted edges on the front that this was probably the panel from a cupboard door. There is a routed Gothic arch in the center. It has a worn coat of apple green paint on it but under that. The wood is very pretty. This would be nice to simply place on a shelf or mantel leaning against the wall with some special figure or object in front of it.
