Upon returning from a three month honeymoon abroad, Joseph Schlotman and his new wife, Stella Ford, began construction of Stonehurst, one of the grandest of the great mansions that once lined the shore of Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe. The Schlotmans had hired Albert Spahr of Pittsburgh to design the 40 room, Early English Renaissance manor that was to occupy a 30 acre site flanked by the estates of Stella's three Ford siblings.This home was named"Stonehurst Estate. Nice lot of hand carved wood trim from a late 1800's shelf we took apart. All the wood looks to be hand done and no 2 pieces. Birds or flowers are alike. The longest piece measures 29.8 inches. The next to longest are 25 1/4 and 19 1/2 inches. I can measure more dimensions par request. I am not good with my woods so I am not sure what type it is, its very dark. The humming birds are really nicely done as are all the flowers. Someone really put a lot of time into this trim. They are stunning to say the least. They are on good condition with the exception of a few small cracks and chips repaired over the years. You would have to go over them with a fine tooth comb to find them. Very good repairs. 2 Antique Architectural Remnant Primitive Building Gingerbread Painted Wood
Up for auction are two antique carved wood architectural remnants recently found in the Saratoga Springs NY area. They are offered in as found condition. They mirror each other but one has more losses than the other. It features the original dry finish of a blueish green over what appears to have mellowed into a salmon. There are cracks and breaks on both pieces. But would be great hung as architectural ornamentation. The smaller piece is approx. 10x8" and 3/4" thick. For sale is this exceptional looking copper on silver architectural piece. I was told this was a hat mold. But I could not find anything like it in my internet search. It could be used as a banister knob or any other creative reuse the winning bidder may have! Just an exquisite natural patina. Knob sits on a wood base That has a large screw hole on the bottom. Really beautiful in its simplicity. Top has a makers mark with 4 squares and under that is written silver on copper. You can see this in my top view and close-up, which was a bit hard to photograph clearly. Measures approx. 7" h. Wood base diameter is 6 1/2" while the knob width is approx. 5 1/2" A rare find! These are a very nice and unusual carved wood bullseyes. They have a soft minty green painted color that was done years ago. These measure 5 1/2" wide and are 8" tall. There is a little added piece of wood to the top. Which one is loose, so you may want to add a nail. Both pieces are together as one listing. Sold as a Pair.
