Here is a fascinating antique or vintage glass block which was salvaged from somewhere. This is about 7 3/4 inches squared with depth of about 3 7/8 inches. You can see that this has some cement or adhesive or something on the some of the sides. I did gently scrub this is the kitchen sink more to get the dust off. But I would think someone could figure out how to clean this up better if they want. Just for giggles, I will tell you that this did float in the sink so this is apparently sealed up. Maybe someone has a place for this or an arts or crafts person can be creative. I guess I have seen people turn these into lamps or lights. There are some scratches on each side, little wear, but what a fascinating item for someone. The heavy brass chain is composed of alternating links of standard stlyed links and links that are rebated around their outer periphery. Here's an old clear glass"Visible Mail" mail box from the 1930's. This was found in the basement of an old uptown mansion here in Butte Montana. Embossed in the glass at the top front in small print is; George F Collins& co. patented 5-22-34. Below that; visible" in an oval, below that"MAIL" in large letters. Thie metal parts looks to have been painted along with the house at some time, the paint has weathered and light rust has come thru resulting in a patina only time can create. All metal parts are solid. The glass is aged with some light rust stains arount the metal parts, again, patina! Antique Victorian Gothic fretwork tracery oak glass light lantern from a church
A beautiful antique Victorian Gothic Revival church lantern made from oak/ oak veneer and graduated frosted glass. The lantern itself is square profile. Measuring 6" x6" across the moulded oak framed top and 5.5" x 5.5" across the similar open base. The wooden structure stands 6.75" high, plus the hanging arrangement which is fitted to the original oak/oak veneer shaped central plate- this sill has its original tiny domed screws. The 4 original panels of frosted/sand-blasted glass are graduated from a speckled terracotta/rust colour at the top to colourless at the bottom, giving a lovely warm, mellow tone to the lighting. The panels are still held in by the tiny, original metal tabs and pins inside the oak frame. The gorgeous Gothic tracery fretwork panels are cut from what looks like an oak veneered board rather ... morethan solid oak(but I could be wrong) All this and the dark oak dyed& waxed finish are completely intact and original. There are a couple of tiny chips/ scuffs to the oak here and there which are inevitable given the age of this piece, but no faults to the fragile tracery and no splits, repairs or other problems. I bought this lantern from a church antiques specialist when I first moved into my Victorian Gothic house around 10 years ago and it has been hanging here and in use ever since. I had a very nice antique copper finish bulb holder with integral hanging hook fitted along with bronze coloured new(safe! flex and a very authentic looking Gothic style bronze finish chain with ceiling rose and internal electrical fittings for direct wiring to the household mains. It is 100% ready to hang elsewhere. Easily postable. I am aiming to keep the bubblewrapped, padded and strongly boxed lantern parcel to within the Royal Mail's'up to 2kg, medium parcel' rate. This wonderful piece from the past has a beautiful rusted patina on the metal. Measurements: 8.5 inches tall not including stopper. 6.5 inches in diameter. A beautiful authentic Victorian Wasp Catcher. There are many imitations out there. But this one is the real deal. An ingenious invention that is equally useful today. Simply pour an inch of sugar water into the bottom and place a plug in the top. Wasps and flies can enter through the bottom and remain trapped until they die. Perfect for use at a picnic or on a patio. This one features beautiful blue glass that appears to have been possibly hand blown. Very rare and completely intact 1920's Novalux floodlighting projector/spotlight salvaged from roaring 20's Sacramento Memorial Auditorium.This exterior fixture retains the deeply textured glass convex lens free from damage.The interior reflector is cracked but is original and the still functional mogul.Lamp socket is also original. There is some rust on the base but no attempts to clean or restore have been made in an effort to retain its value. His father worked at that plant and was told that he could go in and take what ever he wanted before they destroyed the building. He found this mail box and some others new. His fathers used to make them at that factory. Antique ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE Courthouse EAGLE FINIAL Glass Metal 1800s Folk Art
FIVE DAY AUCTION This is a great looking. Very old, primitive. I got it several years ago at a little roadside museum down in Tombstone, Arizona. They were closing up and were deacquisitioning all of their items. This was labeled as coming out of an old Arizona courthouse. Over the years in watching old black and white movies I have seen similar things(but nothing exactly like this) on staircases(on the post at the bottom of a staircase) and also on a judges bench in a courthouse. If anybody out there knows exactly what it is please let me know and I'll share the info. Measures approx. 20 inches tall by 13 inches wide. Weighs 3.3 pounds. No breaks in the metal or glass. I think that is marble on the underside of the base. Lots of wear. Rust, etc. See photos for condition. Even though this piece looks great being displayed as an architectural ... moreantique. Upper auction are 3 antique clear glass with metal center shelf holders. They are the hour glass shape. All are in good used condition. This is a cool lot of(8) antique glass pieces from various sources-I use this kind of stuff for garden décor though you could use it for just about anything. All pieces show wear and 4 pieces have some minor chipping. Please look at all of my pics carefully! There are: 2 glass flower"frogs"flower holders-4 1/2" diameter and 3 1/4" diameter. They have some bubbles in the glass& one is more of a yellowish color than the other. 3 glass knobs-a tiny one. Just 1" long with some minor chipping on the bottom, a slightly larger one-1 1/2" long with a brass bottom part, shaped like a flower& no chips. The largest knob-1 1/2" long X 2" top dia. with no'connecting' part or holder-just glass& no chips. The last 3 pieces are from an old lamp or chandelier and they all have some minor chipping ... moreon their ends. 1 piece is 3 1/2" long. The other 2 are 1 5/8" long X 7/8" thick and with minor chipping at their centers. All 3 of these chandelier pieces have a hole running through their centers. These items would be cool to display in the garden somewhere or maybe repurposed into some kind of altered art! Remember. These are all vintage& used& 4 pieces have some minor chipping!
