Black Vintage Wrought Iron Birdcage Approx 30" tall including hanging hook. 26.5" tall without hook. Cage measures 8" round& 11 3/4" with scrolls. We've loved this piece and had a plant in it mostly. Cage was sprayed once with an anti-rust treatment to prevent more pitting(see pic) It's been kept indoors to better preserve it since it had signs of age: top mesh needs to be soldered down on one side- one scroll leans to the left about 1 cm- cage door needs to be reattached(broke off taking pictures) A beautiful piece considering its age- it's really for a collector who knows what they're buying! Fabulous Antique French Country Wire Bird Cage - Decorative Bee Hive Shape
Purchased at the weekly antiques fair in L'Isle sur la Sorgue. Provence, France. Handmade French wireware pieces have become much more difficult to find and, thus, more rare and desirable. It is at least a century old with a lovely aged patina- all-in-all a great find! It stands about 12" high and about 6.25" wide. Its fully functional door is about 6" high when open and is plainly but cleverly decorated with four round sdecorative scrolls. It has a sturdy loop for hanging. I once had three different sizes of this beehive-shaped cage but this is the only one that is left. Bonne chance!
