ARCHITECTURAL ANTIQUE CAST IRON BARN ROOF STAR
Up for bid is an original architectural antique cast iron barn roof star. When this start was p urchased several months ago. It was in two pieces, mai nly because the barn it was removed from had collapsed. After removing the rest of the roof from the bottom of the star I cleaned up the area around the break and had it rewelded. Today it is in perfect condition. With only a m i nor amount of rust showing around the repaired area. The star is ready to be remounted on a roof or a barn or house. The star is approximately 10-12" high and about as wide. There are two flange ends w hich still retains a few of the original nuts and bolts to fasten it back on a roof. Shipping and insurance will be $18.00 due to weight alone. I am really not sure what to call these. They might be large shelving brackets but I think they went in the corners of a large door or entry way. This auction is for the pair of them. Each one measures 21 inches by 21 inches by 31 inches across. One of them is in perfect shape the other has two cracks in the ornate section however is still solid. Pair of Antique Cast Iron Horse Heads Gate Posts w/ Horseshoes
This is a wonderful old pair of cast iron horse head gate post toppers that have been used. So they do have a few spots of surface rust. I have not attempted to clean them in any way, so the lucky bidder gets that job. They have no chips or cracks in the cast iron and the horseshoes do move back and forth. They are very good quality cast iron, but I see no maker marks, which surprises me. They have a two inch opening on the bottom, so they will sit on a two inch pipe or fence post. There are 7 vertical bars with scrollwork throughout. Each bar is topped with a stylized urn of flowers. Across the center the bars are alternated by flower urns and cast iron balls. There are cast iron balls at the bottom of each vertical bar. None of the adornments are missing or broken. The window gate is in very good condition overall. There is chippy black. Red and silver paint, surface rust, and dings commensurate with age and use.
