MONUMENTAL& VERY ORNATE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN HARDWOOD ROCOCO STYLE ARCHITECTURAL ARCHWAY W/SWAGS Late 1800's. Size: 133" 11' 1.25" ... morewide x 30" 2' 6" high x 3.75" deep(thicker above crest) Dark stain. Probably walnut. The actual slats that are supports on each side are pictured separately as seen in two photos. they stand 87" tall x 10.25" wide) The one side is cracked and needs to be glued and reinforced back together if you are planning on using them again. This grand arch once graced a fine estate during the late Victorian era. It favors a large central medallion type crest. Acanthus leaf with leaf and rose carved swags that are divided by bow ties. This huge piece was a focal point of a double parlor room as it separated the opening between the rooms. Very large and very heavy. Some damage is seen with minor losses to applied trim and rose blossoms. There is also fine white paint splatter, loss to a bow and an old age crack down the crest. The thickness on this piece is almost 4" Stunning and fabulous my dear. Belongs in an antebellum mansion like the one it came from. Wear is consistent with age. Well worth the price. Check out our other doors. Mantels, windows, floor registers, surrounds and hardware! We are selling the the square acanthus carved columns from the same room in a followup listing. Antique Late 1800's Pulley System Fence Stretcher Great Patina Farm Cabin Rustic
For sale is an antique pulley system with double hook and a clutch type brake mechanism. Other auctions indicate that this may be a fence stretcher. I am not an expert and don't know the exact date of manufacture, but there are a couple patent markings, one says Jul 9 89, and another which is not very legible but the last digit is 94, so was made most likely after 1894. All moving parts move freely but I have not tested this with rope. The pulley without the brake would be mounted at a fixed point and the other would be used to lift items in a barn or shop, but would also make a nice decorative piece. The patina is vintage and I do not see any major oxidation. The fixed pulley has brown paint on it which may be original or may have been added later. The"key" above letter drop opens and closes fine, but it appears the top is sealed shut? Can't figure how folks got their mail that way?
