Up for auction today is this ANTIQUE CHINESE CARVED WOOD ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENT- CORBEL- SHIP ORNAMENTATION? We found this amazing piece of ornamental ... morearchitecture at a recent estate sale! The age is unknown but its believed to date to the late 1800s. Exactly what it is we do not know- a corbel? a ship's decorative support? temple ornamentation? Unfortunately. It's history was unavailable and our attempts to research the piece have produced nothing. We do know it's Chinese- made of wood and hand carved with incredible detail! Hopefully someone looking knows what it is- or(like ourselves) just finds it an intriguing conversation piece! It does have a relatively substantial amount of wear and tear to the wood from age and exposure to elements- the pictures provided show the actual condition- there are multiple cracks. Chips, erosion and discoloration of the wood, and what may be insect damage. The decorative carvings are fragile with some pieces having chipped away over the years but overall it is still an amazing piece of art that with some TLC could make for a wonderful addition to any collection or perhaps can be repurposed for more practical use! It measures ~ 14 1/2" in length. ~ 5 5/8" wide, and stands ~ 7 7/8" tall. Not only is this a large piece- it is also a heavy piece so shipping costs should be taken into consideration when bidding! We will w rap this as best we are able- however. Please remember it is fragile and small pieces may break off in transit. We will insure the package at our expense for the winning bidder. The center section is recessed and backed with a beveled mirror and has a marble top vanity with the original porcelain sink. Below are 2 small drawers and a cabinet faced with carved doors. To either side are the closets. They are faced with beveled mirror doors with a drawer below each. The 4 legs have fluted pilasters topped with columns. Corbels, and finials. The pediments are loaded with carvings. Ornate moldings, spindle work galleries and in the center a peaked crown with carved sun rays. This is one of the nicest closets I have seen and it is very unique. It is made of walnut and is currently painted. Up for auction is an antique woodenware carved architectural eagle recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition but has two chips which appear to have been repaired. This has been turned into an interesting sculpture by being mounted on a modern base. It does have a nice look! The eagle has a"Black Forest" carved appearance and is carved from walnut. It was originally mounted on something, such as apiece of furniture or on a mirror. Awesome salvaged furniture pediment. Eastlake style I believe. Wood is stripped and ready as-is or to be stained or painted. Embellish furniture or use as art.great look. Carved parts are applied to basic piece-see photos. 21 1/2" wide. Total thickness is about 4" There is a small piece missing from the applied layer part on(facing it) right side. Look closely at the center of the carving and some of the thin layers have come apart and need secured if you want. Wood is a little dry from being stripped-it was stored in a barn) Overall this is a great display piece.
Antique Swan Carved Architectural Remnant Double-Sided
This is an architectural remnant of a double-sided swan. Likely circa 1880's or somewhat earlier, and perhaps from a carved couch, chair, or other furniture piece. The detail on the swan indicates a rather early date based on the detail. Note the double necklace of beads, and the carved texture and feathers on the swan body. Additionally, the wings are carved with nice detail, and appear to have once been gilded. They have weathered to a lovely patina. The body is stained darker than the wings. I do not know what type of wood this is, but it is very dense, and heavy, almost feeling like a cast iron.perhaps stained rosewood? The picture of the back of the remnant shows a piece of oak that was laid in the indentation between the winds. A piece of this oak is gone as shown. Each piece is 19" long for a total length of 38" Thickness is 3/4" There is a raised piece that runs above the zigzag pattern and the thickness of that piece and the main piece combined is 1 1/4" Eastlake design. This piece has been stripped of most of it's original finish. Nice carved detail. Missing pieces to build or rebuild or create something new. Not sure what the wood is. I believe the carving is hand done as it does not line up perfectly-see photo-the pieces are the same but not identical. Antique salvaged pieces.

Fine Round Carved Architectural Ornamentation Celtic Knot Medallion
This is a superbly carved wooden onlay medallion with a celtic knot design. This was made in the 1990's for a client and it is made from re-cycled wood. As seen in the photo. There is a minor crack but it does not go through to the back side. They were carved to be used as onlays for door panels but they could certainly be repurposed in another manner. Each onlay is 8" in diameter and 1/2" thick. These can be combined with others to save on shipping.

Description This is a beautiful set that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. They are made of slate and have their original faux painting. It was originally located in the vestibule between the front and foyer doors. Each side is made up of three sections; base. Body and cap. The left side is how I think it was originally set up. I am confused that the cap is thicker than the rest? I have shown both ways to set them up in the pics. All three sections have great carved designs accented by the faux painting. Each piece measures 56 inches wide by 39 tall. They are between 3/8 ths and one inch thick along the body. Overall. They are in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. They could use a good cleaning. Some of the painting is missing showing the grey slate underneath. Original. High quality, 1800s piece in fantastic condition. Classic, Victorian, architectural salvage at its very best! This beast weighs over 40LBS and has 5 levels of depth! It is also completely freestanding. This beauty has all the bells and whistles. It has 5 beveled recessed panels total. Unique carving to the bevelling near the corners. Outside 2 have vertical grooves that match the middle one. Parallel grooves also along the bottom and top trim. 2 other recessed panels have classic Eastlake/easthetic carving. Up for Auction is what I believe to be a Pair of Vintage Salvage Architectural Door Corners of a Carved Lion? There 9.75" long and about 3.25" wide. It looks like 3 or more pieces of wood glued together and then carved. I have no idea how old they are. One has a small spot they started to repair but never finished. These likely came off a much larger piece. Perhaps a very ornate large cabinet, or a fireplace surround. They are the coolest! Intricately hardwood carved heads, each measure 4" Originally painted white they have been stripped and left natural. I would date them around 1870-1900. From a valuable 19th century Burmese sofa. These are solid rosewood, intricate, openwork,deep carving from one piece of wood. These have cats on top and scrolled bases with flowers throughout. ARCHITECTURAL ANTIQUE : CARVED OAK TRIM FRAGMENT
HAND CARVED OAK TRIM FRAGMENT: Very nicely carved section of oak casing trim. The oak has the darkened original varnish/stain finish at one end of the piece. And a cleaned medium oak finish at the other end. This was done to illustrate the darkened state of finish that the piece was found in, and to contrast it with a more natural finish. The thick piece of oak has been hand carved in an acanthus leaf design, with a ball and reed bottom banding. Each end has a 45 degree mitered cut. The oak trim has been mounted on a hand carved white marble fragment with a carved acanthus leaf relief. The combination of the marble base and oak trim resulted in an interesting composition of hand carved architectural art. The oak casing trim is 21 3/4" long x 4 1/2" high x 2 1/4" thick. The marble fragment base is 12" long x 6" high ... morex 2 1/2" thick. The overall mounted height is 7 1/2" weight is 10 1/2 lbs. Please note that item was photographed under studio lighting.
