A Pair of original art nouveau brass & copper plated door finger plates
Two original art nouveau pressed metal door finger plates they are 10.5" long and just over 2.75" wide the fixing holes are 9.5" and 1.75" apart there is some pitting to the plate but they are still in good usable condition we have left these unpolished as they have a lovely patina that has built up over time however. It has made it a little difficult to see what metal they are. They are definately pressed metal/tin not solid copper or brass. We think that the beading is a brass plate and the background is a copper plate but are not 100% sure I am selling more of these as well as some more in a different design and will happily amalgamate to save on postage POSTAGE IS CHARGED AT COST. I have for sale a pair of Arts and Crafts Movement/ Art Nouveau cast brass screens. They were probably made to fit within a wooden frame possibly a door on a fine piece of furniture or some kind of screen within an architectural setting. I'm not sure of the original purpose of the panels other than decoration to be quite honest. Both panels are finely cast in brass and at either end have threaded holes. Size. Approximately 10" long x 4.5" wide.Weight unpacked approximately 0.900kg The cast panels show fantastic style and sophistication and are very much in the style of the great architect and designers Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott(1865-1945) and Charles Francis Annesley Voysey(1857-1941) Condition. please view numerous pictures. R.A.L. Co. Ltd. CX 392. Refurbished. This Victorian door letter box is made from cast iron. Of traditional design the letter ... moreflap and back plate are rectangular with art nouveau raised reliefs and lettering. The back back plate has two cast rings to retain the letter flap when suspended by its swivel rod. A new 2.5mm marine grade stainless steel 13cm rod has been fitted together with a new 20mm letter box spring. The backplate has two threadings; Whitworth 1/4" to receive the mounting studs. The old studs has been replaced with two new 8cm 1/4" studs complete with four 1/4" nuts; one to secure the door knob and the other to lock the nut in situ. The back plate is stamped with the manufacturers details and series number as shown in the images. Dimensions: The backplate measures 21cm x 8cm. The studs measure 8cm long and will be long enough to accomodate most doors easily. The new swivel rod is 12cm long with a 2.5cm diameter. The new spring measures 20mm. Weight: 473g's.
