We found this amazing piece of ornamental ... morearchitecture at a recent estate sale! The age is unknown but its believed to date to the late 1800s. Exactly what it is we do not know- a corbel? a ship's decorative support? temple ornamentation? Unfortunately. It's history was unavailable and our attempts to research the piece have produced nothing. We do know it's Chinese- made of wood and hand carved with incredible detail! Hopefully someone looking knows what it is- or(like ourselves) just finds it an intriguing conversation piece! It does have a relatively substantial amount of wear and tear to the wood from age and exposure to elements- the pictures provided show the actual condition- there are multiple cracks. Chips, erosion and discoloration of the wood, and what may be insect damage. The decorative carvings are fragile with some pieces having chipped away over the years but overall it is still an amazing piece of art that with some TLC could make for a wonderful addition to any collection or perhaps can be repurposed for more practical use! It measures ~ 14 1/2" in length. ~ 5 5/8" wide, and stands ~ 7 7/8" tall. Not only is this a large piece- it is also a heavy piece so shipping costs should be taken into consideration when bidding! It also has writing on the back that I can't decipher.see photos) These were marketed by Horchow's Catalog in the late 90's and they provided a Certificate of Antiquity issued by HONG KONG ART CRAFT MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION. For sale an antique Victorian large wall pocket newspaper rack fold out with heraldic blazon style decoration. I believe this is walnut wood. The burl of the pocket fold I believe is walnut. Beautifully carved with cote of arms motif. The frame has a 10" flying dragon on each upper side and leaves all over the frame, and one plain leaf in the center in case you'd like to personalize. The burl front pocket has"L" engraved. The rack measures about 27" x 18" The wood sticks out from the wall about 3" before opening the rack. The pocket expands up to 6.5" Condition: The bottom right corner is about 8" chipped and glued as shown in last two pics. The front burl wall pocket under"L" has a white spot as shown in pic 7. A large carved wood Corinthian capital head A very architectural piece is this large carved wood Corinthian capital head. It has spendid acanthus leaves and egg and dart border. Underneath. It has a hole where the column was once attached. The top oak section is modern. Made in multiple sections and then boldly carved, it was part of a full size Corinthian column, probably from the early 1800s, but dating is quite difficult, but the meagre traces of gold leaf suggests to us that it is indeed very old. The back edge is plain where it was intended to sit flush against a wall. It has several losses, and is extreemly heavy so please take that into consideration when bidding.It would make a great pedestal for any piece of art. DUE TO ITS WEIGHT. Antique Architectural Furniture Remnant Carved Wood Eagle Mounted Sculpture
Up for auction is an antique woodenware carved architectural eagle recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition but has two chips which appear to have been repaired. This has been turned into an interesting sculpture by being mounted on a modern base. It does have a nice look! The eagle has a"Black Forest" carved appearance and is carved from walnut. It was originally mounted on something, such as apiece of furniture or on a mirror. Each featuring a sailor(probably Spanish) supposedly subsequently used in Benjamin Disraeli's study. Made by Oakleaf using a special resin-based material. They look, sound and feel like the originals, in a dark medieval style oak stain finish as pictured. Measuring approx 46 x 44 x 1.5cms(18x17x3/4" and probably originally from a piece of furniture, they come with a hanger, ready to fix to the wall. Each piece is 19" long for a total length of 38" Thickness is 3/4" There is a raised piece that runs above the zigzag pattern and the thickness of that piece and the main piece combined is 1 1/4" Eastlake design. This piece has been stripped of most of it's original finish. Nice carved detail. Missing pieces to build or rebuild or create something new. Not sure what the wood is. Serious Deep Relief Carved Foliated Arch Top Wood Panel Magnificent
If you look closely at the workmanship on this panel you will become mesmerized. To think that someone would imagine a 16” by almost 2” rectangular block of wood could reveal the elaborate foliage this now has boggles the mind. You might think the leaves and flowers were“whittled” out and then glued to the board but you would be wrong. This panel is completely relief carved from a single block of wood. Sadly. There are some sharp tips of leaves and flowers that have chipped off. These chips are insignificant to the overall piece and really take very little away from its appeal. It is 15.5” x 8” x 1.5”

26"H Antique Victorian Carved Quartersawn Oak Wood Plinth Corner Trim Block Base
Penn Antique Restoration. 9"x26" Antique Victorian Quartersawn Oak Pilaster Base. Gorgeous. Antique, pilaster base salvaged from Southeastern, PA. The block is made of solid, quartersawn oak, and has a medium stain. It has beautiful carved details including acanthus, beads, and other geometric shapes. It was cut cleanly from the full pilaster that it was once a part of. It could be used as a stand-alone decorative element or incorporated onto another. Bigger architectural piece(i.e. closet front, fireplace mantel, etc. It's in very good condition with only a few nicks.
